Home to survey the damage to my e-mail. I will be talking to some computer experts at the chess club tonight, but as of now all of my contacts and e-mails have been wiped out other than the last 18 I received which I found in trash.

As of right now I have bids from Ben, toddle, spid, rejay, bruce, Jeff, Jon, Jonas, mars, Lou and parking.  If you sent in a list and aren't mentioned above, you may want to resend it.

Looks like what a hacker did was send out a help message to my contacts, then set up an account at hotmail under the same name and redirected responses to it.  I've changed my password, notified hotmail, and the FBI.

There are some pretty sorry people in the world.  My secretary and myself got phone calls all day asking if they could help.  Hopefully everyone is smart enough not to send money without checking first.

Was your sitemail affected also? Or, were bids sent through sitemail okay today?

I can resend if you like,
JRNY

Site-mail was fine -- just my personal e-mails.

40% of toddleduc's opening day roster is comprised of Darvish, Cueto, and Doumit. Wow. What a day!!
70% of toddleduc's opening day roster is comprised of Darvish, Cueto, Cain, Clay Buchholz, Doumit, and Emilio Bonifacio. The other 34 guys will earn an average of roughly $9 each.

This league is the greatest!!

The way things are going I will be able to get Verlander for $2

I'm right there with you. Can't win a bid as the war chest stands @ $1000 smackers still.

Apparently not everyone understands that we only have $1000 to spend.
10/24/2012 4:15 PM
We are at 43.25 per player right now.

There is 19.32 per total player available.

Or 24.15 per total player if you assume only 80% will be used going from a 30 team league to a 24 team league.

grayfoxx-believe me people will save enough money for verlander. Usually in auctions =3 to 4 owners save a lot at the end because they think they will get verlander for a cheap price. This what happens-those 3-4 owners end up over spending on verlander in fear that the auction will end and they have $400 left because Verlander is the only one left.

Oh I am not worried about Verlander, I wont get him because I wont spend over 200 for him(like someone will).

Apparently sacarsm does not translate in forum writing.

Been busy teaching the last few days, so let's catch up a little on the week's activities now:

Note: I earlier posted that the player average is $25 ($1000/40-man roster), but that's not realistic. We're building 25-man rosters and stashing away some other, cheap dudes. So let's amend: $900 for a 25-man roster = $36 per. $100 for a 15-man reserve roster = $6-7 per. That's more like it. Apply these figures to the comments below.

Surprises
Tuesday, 10/23
AJ Ellis $69--solid numbers and defense in 2012, dropped into the middle of an otherwise uninteresting career. I bid on Ellis and would love to have his line and glove, but at double the average player cost?
Robinson Cano $161--Miggy @ 250, Braun at 233, and Cano at 161. After McCutcheon and Trout, Cano is the 3rd highest salaried player, and offers A/B defense. A relative steal.
Pedro Ciriaco $76--wha? He sported a nifty .293 average in 272 PA's, but where's the power(.390 SLG)? And his glove is a D. Either someone is a Boston fan--or is betting big on Pedro's future.
Jared Burton $119--fine closer numbers(63 innings/.91 whip/.186 oav), but at what cost?

Wednesday, 10/24
Yoenis Cespedes $201--Wow. 20% of the budget for a 292/356/505 line. Cespedes ranks 51st in position player salary, but 3rd in league salary thus far. (It should be noted that this buy might be the favorite buy in the league so far for 23 teams.)
Jamey Carroll $43--This 2B has no stick(268/343/317), but dig it: he's defense is actually better at SS than 2B. He's an A+/A at SS in 537 PAs. For just a few $ more than average. Wish I had done this.

Thursday, 10/25
Yasmani Grandal $52--Great prospect. Only 200 ABs this year. Not quite a steal, though. To renew his salary will be double the average.
Prince Fielder $133--We have returned to earth.
RA Dickey $125--A much better deal than Cueto/Darvish/Cahill. Dickey is the 4th salaried pitcher. Maybe his price came down because chicks don't love the knuckle ball.

Friday, 10/26
Carl Crawford $46--125 PAs and terrible defense and someone up and pays this has been almost $50. Must be a fan of Southern California baseball.
Aroldis Chapman $99--Maybe the most dominate relief arm. Not bad, not great.
