Rest of the World - Fernando Valenzuela P '81

Eck was that unique hybrid .He was a nice starting pitcher for years, not spectacular but solid enough to be the Sox's staff ace at the end of the 1970's.  Then of course he became a phenomenal closer with the A's. Fenway Park is still the greatest.  I lived in and around the neighborhood of the ballpark in Boston's Kenmore Square for a year or two at the end of the 70's....and even worked nightly on the stadium post game clean up crew for a time. I could walk in free after the 5th inning.

i don't know why he doesn't get more respect:   Texarkana  - Frank Robinson OF '56

Yeah I don't know how he lasted this long - right up there in the league with Mantle, Mays and Aaron.

I'll switch my pick for NY to Hank Greenberg.

Short but great career

There are still some better-than-decent hitters in the Midwest (great even), including a certain high avg. catcher that will certainly one day make it to Cooperstown. But the grass is greener on the other side, so I'll go with...

Chuck Klein OF (1928)

Does that mean Eddie Collins was still available for my 7th round pick?

From Dixie, Heinie Manush--1923.

I'd love to have the DH issue settled today, as it impacts draft strategy a little bit. I'm neutral, to be honest. I like the game more much more without it, so I'd vote no, but I can live either way.

No, he's talking about the pick the commish made for him just now. Collins was taken in the 4th round.
Jim Palmer is now available....
