It's sad but true, trading future draft picks could lead to severe imbalances.

For me that`s the one thing I do see happening.  But it`s more for the stuff I or others don`t see..

I used the example of HBD changing to allow for the transfer of $ after budgets finalized.  It was originally done to allow owners to make small changes due to errors etc.  I`m sure nobody expected it to turn into what it has become...  Owners tanking:  Minimum salaries across all levels..Transfering HUGE amounts into prospect budgets so they can totally out bid anyone for Int. Free Agents. AND since their ML team sucked..they get the first over pick next season etc etc  Do this for 3 or 4 seasons...load up on premium prospects....  Tanking has become a MAJOR issue and really it can be all traced back to this ability to transfer budgets...

There are of course other things owners in HBD have done to circumvent things (loophole) the system in order to get away with things...Most of these are things nobody considered....until it became a major problem..

ok, maybe trading future draft picks might not work.  But I really think having the ability to trade your current seasons pick makes a ton of sense.

I think the draft should happen right before the regular season starts, so that you have the entire pre-season to decide on if you want to trade up or down or completely away your draft pick.  This would make the draft easily the most exciting time in puck dynasty for sure.

And I think just like in NHL every team sees the exact same players, their opinions might be slightly different, but certainly everybody knew about Sid the kid, and the Great One.  This way you have a very good idea what you are going to get with your first pick.  Esp if you are in the top 5 or so.  Having the ability to trade up or down a pick or three to get the type of player you really need (say a bruising power forward with a hard shot, or a power play specialist D-man).  This would very closely emulate what happens in RL and would as I said make the draft as exciting for us as it is for Brian Burke!  :)  (ok poor example there in Burke!)  lol

Lets be honest - There aint ever going to be hockey dynasty so we don't need to waste time debating it.

but what if you have nothing but time to waste?  :)

Those questions regarding the dynasty were put to him by hockey1984, but it does seem hopeful that they at least included the questions.

I doubt that they'll have us seeing every single pick.  And Gretzky was never drafted by an NHL team, he became a pro thru the WHA.  I bet the draft list will be similar to how they have it in HBD, with not everyone seeing all the same prospects, and I'd be more or less OK with that.  I'm sure all of the teams in MLB were aware of Stephen Strasburg when he was drafted.

WIS approved it right?  If hockey1984 asked the questions, then WIS sees it and says "WTF is this dynasty thing you're referring to...????"  Then it probably gets cut out.  So my guess is since it posted... maybe there is some hope for a hockey dynasty.

Yeah, I get that.  I just wish they'd give us an progress report or something to string us along a bit.
3/17/2012 7:23 PM
So maybe we should start taking applications for new worlds?  A little hint hint to show WIS how many people would join?   I definitely want to be commish of a world.
3/17/2012 9:29 PM
A, I would happily commish a world and join yours. That's 2 teams right off the bat

So where should we start a wait list for Hockey Dynasty worlds?

P.S -  Maybe a status update WIS?  If it's in progress, great.  If there is 0% chance of it, just let us know.  Thanks.
