All-Conference Teams Logic Topic

Player A averaged 14.3 PPG, 2.2 RPG, 1.4 APG, 0.4 BPG, and 1.3 SPG on 50.9% shooting.

Player B averaged 13.4 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 2.0 APG, 0.5 BPG, and 1.2 SPG on 49.7% shooting.

Both of these players are on my team, which went 14-2 in conference. They both play the same position (SF) and put up very similar numbers. Player B was Second Team All-Conference, and Player A was honorable mention.

The Third Team All-Conference SF averaged 10.4 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 2.6 APG, 0.2 BPG, and 1.5 SPG on 51.3% shooting. This is for a team that went 15-1 in conference.

I'm wondering how there was room between my two players for someone else to sneak in. The third guy's numbers are much different than the numbers of my two players, so what caused one of mine to be ahead of him and the other to be behind?

His Reb and Assists are 2x better than your guys. be happy that both of your guys were not behind him.

Not upset at all, just curious. What I'm asking is what was the difference between my two guys, or what caused the gap that the other guy squeezed into?

Are the numbers you posted their full season numbers or their conference numbers?  Only the numbers from their in conference games matter for the award.

Just conference games.

Player B is a bench player, the other two are starters.

Okay...that shoots my theory all to heck then.

preface...I didn't look at the guys, but defense and turnovers also play into the player awards

You want some strange logic. Last season my backup SF (officially listed at SG) somehow managed to get third team all-conference. A true freshman who only averaged 4.9 PGG on 46.7% shooting, 2.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals in 17.7 MPG. This is in a conference that sent 6 teams to the NT.

Millwood, I don't know if I'm misinterpreting your comment, but I think you're saying that WIS is tracking defensive stats for players in some form.  I would LOVE it we could access that stat.   Even if you could only see your own team, you could learn so much about how to weight your ATH, DEF, etc. when recruiting.

Pretty sure he's referencing Stls and Blks when he says defense and turnovers are those committed by your player, not caused by him.

On the shooting, what were the three pointer stats for each player?

I think a strong argument could be made for the other player to be 2nd team pretty easy.  Team performance will factor somewhat--and rightfully so.  I think players from a better team get a little more rope.  Still the reb, stls and asts play a significant role even without the team factor.  IRL, Player B would have been the lowest of the three .  What were the stats of the first teamer?

doesn't seem too strange to me at all
