In my first stint at the D1 level (many seasons ago), I stunk up the joint and never got a booster message.  Team was a doormat before I came, and was a doormat when I went back to D2.  Perhaps it is not an indication of a firing at seasons end, but sure sounds like it to me.

I think it probably has much more to do with RPI than with records. Even though you've had 3 of 4 seasons with a winning record, only one of those has resulted in a top 100 RPI. Maybe that factors in more than the actual record.

Must be something to do with it.

I don't know for certain. The only time I've been in real trouble, as far as getting fired was a long time ago, when I first started. I was at Philadelphia (I think) in one of the worlds, and tried out the booster gifts. Let's just say it didn't end well...

I wanted to give my perspective since I was in the A10 (Xavier) for most of Bfunk's tenure at GW.  Bfunk started with a rough team but seemed to be building it in the right direction but then he recruited a bunch of 3 point shooters and started jacking up 30-40 3 pointers per game.  I am not sure if he was doing some kind of data testing or what but needless to say his approach was not successful.  I believe if he would have stayed on a more traditional team building path he would have made the post season within 7 seasons no problem.

He was either running -5 or +5 for every game as well.

Could overusing the booster gifts get you fired?  Lets say someone went hog wild on them and offered as many as they could to every recruit they went after.  What kind of sanctions did the game impose on the worst of "cheaters"?

I basically tested that out during a cycle. I used them on every guy, and Philly went on probation. I basically got "the letter" that indicates I probably only have a year to turn it around, so I bailed.

Sounds like socialism combined with everyone gets a ribbon for participating mentality.

WIS is extremely short sighted on this.  They don't understand that while they may lose 1 disgruntled customer who gets fired,  they are already losing 2-3 disgruntled customers who can't find any open Big 6 jobs.

it comes down to the same problem as always... seble doesn't actually know what its like to play this game competitively. doesn't matter what game you are working on, if balance is one of the things that falls to you, thats going to be a major problem.
