Mike White also a candidate at Mizzou.
Along with the usuals;  Howland, Marshall, Mack...
could be interesting to watch these two SEC schools try to persuade someone that they're just not about football.

UTEP's Tim Floyd has emerged as a strong candidate for the Missouri opening, a source close to the situation told ESPN.

Floyd, 60, has spent the past four seasons with the Miners and has a team that is expected to compete for the Conference USA title next season. Floyd also spent four seasons at USC and led the Trojans to three NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 in 2007.

Floyd was also the coach of the Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Hornets in the NBA.

ESPN's Andy Katz previously reported that Central Missouri coach Kim Anderson, a Missouri alum, was also in the mix to replace Frank Haith -- who left last week for Tulsa.

Marshall has been without a coach for over 40 days. They've been waiting on alum Mike D'Antonio, coach of the Lakers.  But, apparently, he won't be going home to West Virginia.
Two names connected with the Marshall job are now Eastern Kentucky's Jeff Neubauer and Stephen F. Austin's Brad Underwood.

Marshall has made a decision....Dan D'Antoni, assistant coach to his brother Mike of the LA Lakers.

I think it's a questionable hire. D'Antoni has never been a head coach and, at age 66, could find recruiting tough. Opposing schools could hold his age against him, i.e. '"he'll retire before you graduate....."

Here's a look at the five candidates, per Coppin State's news release:

Orlando "Bino" Ranson: A current assistant at the University of Maryland, Ranson has strong ties to the Baltimore-Washington area, having coached for two seasons at St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. He has played a major role in helping Maryland sign back-to-back top-25 recruiting classes in 2012 and 2013. Ranson led the recruitment of current Terps Charles Mitchell and Shaquille Cleare.

Larry Stewart: Currently in his fifth season with Bowie State and his third as Associate Head Coach. A standout player at Coppin State from 1988-1991, Stewart led the Eagles to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance in 1990 and first ever National Invitational Tournament in 1991. He was a two-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year and named Black College Player of the Year in 1991, also winning the John B. Wooden Award. Stewart ranks third all-time at Coppin State in scoring (1,824) and first in rebounds (1,052). He played in the NBA for seven seasons (1991-1997) with the Washington Bullets and Seattle Supersonics.

As a member of the Bulls’ staff from 2009-13, Skeeters helped lead the BIG EAST squad to its first NCAA Tournament bid in 20 years. Does nobody want to hire Ben Howland? 3 straight final fours, won a Pac12 championship last season and nobody has room for him? Amazing.

When it comes right down to it, the Sports Illustrated article probably doomed him. I wouldn't want a recruit's parents reading that
