I just checked my opponents 3FG% against my teams and they are:

30%
32%
32%
34%

All of those teams are at or near the end of the regular season and have top 30 SOS.

In RL, it looks like the best teams hold their opponents to 28-31%

9 out of the 12 teams in DII Naismith WVIAC shoot 34% or better
7 out of the 12 teams in DII Naismith WVIAC allow 34% or better

None of the 3 posts above prove the OP either wrong or right.  I dont know how you could argue the results of a team (or even a conference are indicative of the world).
Tarek used to post site wide stats vs NCAA.  It would be nice if Seble's group could do the same.

In the current NCAA post-season, including the NIT, CBI and CIT, 36 teams  played at least 3 games.   Of those 36 teams,  28  shot better than 33% from behind the arc.

9 of those teams shot better than 40%
***
For the entire season,  68% of the  D1 teams hit better than 33% of their 3's

Defensively, during the regular season,  72% of all D1 teams (247 out of 345)  allowed greater  than 33% success from behind the arc

As for #2, I remember there was a post on kenpom a while back about 3p allowed and 3p% being pretty unrelated

For the past 2-4 seasons I  have been brewing about this game engine.   I have 2 major complaints and keep hoping one day WIS will get off its *** and impriove this game we pay for.

1) Individual matchups dont mean s^&t.   Win or lose, every other game  I see my player "A", who's distibution I lowered, go off for 20 pts vs a 90 defender while my player "A" goes 1 for 8 against a 50 defender.   Customer service says the game takes more into account then defense.  Well no sh&t,   they don't think I am factoring ath, speed, etc into the equation as well??   Bottom line, the correlation between success and the opponent each player is matched up against isn't even close to being high enough.  Coaches want the ability to set lineups to guard specific players?  What's the use when the matchup results are meaningless.

2) Defensive positioning doesn't mean s^&t in this engine.   I blame seble speficically for this one.   His change several seasons ago basically neutered this coaching ability.  ALL it does not is affect the number of shots taken by the opponent but has no impact on success rate.    Sorry SEBLE,  in real life if a team has it's defenders all planted on the 3 pt arc, that WILL affect the % of 3 pointers made.

3) 3PT % made are way too high across the board.   Etta even saw this one.   I am surprised more people don't take advantage of this because combined with #2, there is really not a lot coaches can do about it.   Even C/PF with ridiculously low PER can scratch out a 30% rate in this game if the coaches let them.  That's just dumb.

I enjoy game planning but more and more this feels like "recruiting dynasty" and after a ton of seasons and money, I am starting to get sick of it.

Thanks for allowing the rant.
I agree with the "recruiting" dynasty generalization.

However, the current tools make gameplanning relatively boring and time-consuming...so much so that I doubt I would take the time to gameplan even if it did matter more.

I don't think mentioning his name out loud is a good idea...kinda like using Lord Voldimort's actual name or saying beetlejuice 3 times.

I think many stats are affected by playing SIMS (or really bad teams).  These are the completed conference DEFENSIVE stats for a conference that has 12 human teams.

School GP 3Pt%
1. Central Florida 31.9
2. Rice 32.2
3. Tulsa 32.4
4. UAB 32.7
5. Marshall 32.8
6. E. Carolina 32.8
7. Houston 35.4
8. Tulane 36.1
9. UTEP 37.2
10. Memphis 37.4
11. SMU 39.3
12. S. Mississippi 40.1

How many 3's were taken by each team? Compared to RL?
