D3, Season 72 Topic

I would like to nominate ezekialstarr. He has a very good chance of winning the second best conference, and his team improved from 42 RPI to 11 RPI.

Thanks Carson, what a compliment! I really think there's a number of coaches who've got me beat, but certainly I'll add my name to the list with the others.

Also, I added the GNE into the Starr Engine. Anybody else want me to add in their conference?

You can add the OAC for ***** and giggles. Thanks for putting all this together, getting ready to vote right now.

Awesomeness Bullman, as always.

You guys want me to make a new poll (for MVP) with the top 3-5 receiving votes, and vote once more today? Or should we just go with it. Right now it looks like either Quinto or Wallace will take it, possibly Lujan. Anyway I provided links to ratings and statistics for the current top 3 in the running at:

http://StarrEngine.Yolasite.com

You can also find the new poll there to vote your choice for coach of the year. The coaches voting on the coaches, should be fun. :)

Nachopuzzle you got it buddy, I'll be working to add the OAC today :)

It would be awesome if someone messaged the conferences to vote for CotY. I've been spamming the boards like crazy so I want to stay off the radar for a little bit before I'm reading the dictionary some day and see this:

Ezekial Starr - /n/ [ih zee kee uh l - Stahr]

1 - a person who spams everyone's coaches corners and creates weird posts on the forums.
2 - one who can not commit to or finish what is started.
3 - a simulated engine with limited functionality

e.g. - The man was accused of being an EzekialStarr after writing a complaint in the form of a poem to the girl scouts sector he had just dropped out from.

Bullman, do you keep old data?  wonder what the highest likelihood of winning it all has ever been?

And is it the kiss of death?  has the team with the highest chance to win it all according to your formula ever won it all?

Seems like there is always an upset that takes out the 'obvious' choice to win…. I know that doesn't happen sometimes, but seems to be the trend in D3 Rupp.
4/12/2014 8:18 PM
In Season 67 Smith D1 I had Alabama at 80% chance of winning.  Fortunately they did win or I probably would have thrown the whole thing in the trash and started over.  There hasn't been anything close to that since.

For Rupp D3, Altoona won it in season 66 when I had them second most likely at 20% (Millsapps was 21% and they both met in the finals).  The next season Emory won it at 8% which was sixth most likely.  In 68 JDub won it at 19% (2nd).  In 69 Piedmont won it with 0.09% (20th, that was the team with 6 freshman).  In 70 Wooster did it at 31% (2nd to Millsaps again at 44%).  Last year Lynchburg pulled it off at 0.16% (23rd -- JDub was my pick and they lost in that final).

So to answer your question, in Rupp my pick has never won it.  Of course I had you as the favorite twice and we all know what bad luck you have had in Rupp once you make it to the final four:(
4/12/2014 8:37 PM
That is hilarious.  maybe next year I can be the SECOND pick and finally win one (I do return 12 players….).  I still can't believe JW lost last year.  And furthermore, it was amazing the year Piedmont won it with 6 freshmen playing press.  I think Bunker was even surprised by that one.

Sounds like this year Wooster (0.17%) or Hardin Simmons (25%) are the teams to beat!

4/12/2014 10:15 PM
Speaking of ... how in the world was Hardin-Simmons a 5 seed?!? Undefeated, 621 team rating!

Of course, i didn't notice until I see I get them as my 2nd round opponent.

When should we close the voting on the MVP?  Joshua Wallace (one of my players, yay!) is in the lead so somebody else should decide.  It would be great to get more votes for coach of the year.  Even 15 votes would be nice and... what do you guys think, close that one just before the championship game?   To vote, just click here:

Leave it open until the championship, yeah. Good idea. Love the system Ezekiel!
