I had to swallow hard to take Murphy because of his lousy D, but with the selection of Moncrief (who scores a lot in the paint during the season I intend to use) I boxed myself into needing a big man who can help keep the floor spread.
With Chauncey, Murphy and J.R. (who will win a couple games for me and lose a couple) I'm good with 3s, and Dwight, Billups and Squid will get to the line plenty. Overall eFG% is much better than my last couple squads in this league. TOs are are on track to be low but PFs are climbing.
Sanders provides most of the backup big man minutes and gives me the offensive board, shot blocking and defense that Murphy doesn't. I wasn't unhappy that he fell to me. And Grant, whom I've never used, should be the glue in my starting lineup.
I thought hard about taking Charlie Ward, my favorite backup PG, but figured I could forgo his perimeter shooting, take J.R. for nothing but his mad 3s, and find an undrafted PG who plays D and moves the ball without needing to care where he shoots from.
I agree with ash that Nick Anderson would have been a more natural fit with this squad, in which case there would have been plenty of low usage, rebounding big men who actually play defense whom I could have taken over Murphy. Still, I'm liking my team well enough to drop the coin in the slot and see what happens.
