Personally, I would just add another set of parenthesis to eliminate the confusion.
If you strictly use PEMDAS, it should be 1. Practically, most computer codes order multiplication and division from left to right.
20 years ago, a Thermodynamics professor asked why his students used so many parenthesis when writing code. Unabashed, I raised my hand. I told him that it was the only way I could be certain of the order of operations.
