Worst run survivor of all time?
We all know that had to be one of mine.

I tend to mince words, so this should be rather short. Why I should win this game... I'm not really sure that this is an easy question to answer. I did some things that I probably shouldn't have in order to navigate myself to this position, and if you harbor resentment against me and choose not to vote for me because of that, I can't say I blame you. However, I believe I played a fairly smart game. I made moves when I felt they needed to be made. I was the middle, independent guy for the entire last merge which got me to where I am now. My play with both sides of the final merge helped me to get here. So, if you harbor resentment, again, can't blame you. Don't vote for me. Vote for ahrens or shoe instead. They both have played this game extremely well and I'd have no problems with losing to them. But ultimately, I feel I played a good game and that is why I believe you should vote for me.

Well I will say I had a great time playing this for my first time... But I think I should win this year of survivor because I think I played the game it should be played. I stuck wit guys I should stick wit to make it to the end... Yea I did get blind sided one the second merge by the Adidas 4 which I'm sure all dislike me but hey it was a great move... But I also came back wit more knowledge bout who was left... I played both sides nice guy bad guy or just didn't say anything... Yea a lot of you think I followed pola the whole way. Maybe a lil but I think I played a much better game then the other two that are still standing... I'm horrible at speeches so it was probably ****** but I think I should win survivor because I played the game exactly how it should be played "matchless"... Thanks again guys had a great time with all this

I think it's probably one of the best run... Tied with all of dubs.

I would have remembered to post the memorial challenge about as equally as remembering what day it was to vote.

The strippers did it.

Well, I guess since everybody else posted, I’ll do the deed as well.

Reasons why I should win:

1. I made the move that shaped the game.  I realize (and will be the first to admit) that I didn’t play through the first tribe.  I was swamped with work.  Psap told me I was on the chopping block, so I took control on the last challenge and led Tribe Under Armour to victory and saved me.  I then team up with polabonez to dominate Tribe mid major.  Flipping on Psap’s alliance in the tribe.  Tyson will be the first one to tell you, without that move from me, his alliance was in trouble.
2. I did extremely well in the final challenges.  Between me and Tyson, we won almost every challenge, and I was 2nd on most of the ones I lost.  I used these advantages during the tribal votes to get the results I wanted (more on this later).
3. I grew into someone who knew exactly want was happening the in the final tribe.  I had a deal with both shoe and mb to get this far, although both were brokered in different ways.  I brokered the deal with shoe when the fake account came out and had that info that Tyson wanted to flip on shoe (something that I knew, not sure who else did) once the game was in hand.  I used that to get a deal with shoe so that he would still vote with us, but flip on Tyson before Tyson could flip on him.  The best part was Tyson was cc’d on all these emails because I told him it was a rouse to get his vote.  It wasn’t, I knew I couldn’t be Tyson in the finals and I had to make a move.  Mb’s deal was made right when psap came back.  I told him that psap was gone and he could join up with me and shoe and run to the final 3.  He wanted to still vote with psap, and I said that was fine.  I knew who everybody else was voting for, so I gave my immunity to Tyson (without him knowing) just as a counter to psap’s grand gesture of saying he was voting for Tyson.  It was done because I knew exactly what was going to happen and just to fuel psap’s fire some more.
4. Even though it appeared like I was Tyson’s pawn, I actually did a lot of his work and we bounced almost everything off of each other.  He took the roll of antagonist and bad guy in case he was eliminated I could try to find a new group.  We saw just about every sitemail the other saw.

I could go into some more details, but I’ll try to answer some questions that I’m sure will be asked.

First, I actually didn’t talk to Tyson until right after first letters.  I had actually written up a letter of resignation, but decided against it, and then just shot a random thing to Tyson.  Mainly about trading clues, nothing about a conspiracy.  New tribes weren’t decided yet.  Apparently Tyson fought to keep me alive (and eliminate redraider instead) but I had no knowledge of that.

Second, as mentioned earlier, I gave Tyson my immunity purely for my enjoyment.  He didn’t as for it.

Third, I choose to have sjurat voted out last instead of Tyson because Tyson did teach me a lot.  I know he was good at challenges, so I was going to basically say win the challenge or we are eliminating you.  Hadn’t figured out if shoe or mb would be the one (they probably would have targeted me, honestly) but I couldn’t give Tyson a chance, not after all he did.

Fourth and finally, this is something that isn’t probably going to be asked, but something I’d still like to answer.  I would enjoy playing this game again and would get a lot more enjoyment out of outsmarting Tyson (or whoever the powerful figure turned out to be) much earlier.  I feel like I have grown so much (from someone who has never seen an episode of survivor into someone who can scheme and understand the game) that next game I will be a player from the start.

Thanks to ghutton and horvie for running this game.  It was fun and I’m excited for the next survivor.

Thanks, Matt

I have some questions.

Who was the fake survivor account?
What was the answer to the fake survivor clues?
And what happened to the first idol?
5/29/2013 7:01 PM
Question from the jury:

If stranded on an island (coincidentally), and only allowed one primitive tool, what would you choose?

A knife.  I would get so much use out of that.

Ahrens,

1.  Please explain what happened on the inside in the tsut/sjurat elimination vote when sjurat received more votes than tsut, but played his idol.  And what part did you play in this scheme?

2. Who where the members of the alliance that chose to go after Sjurat this last round?  And why not earlier, and what part did you play in sjurat’s exit?

3. In your statement you seem to be saying that you were willing to allow Pola a chance to win the final Challenge Immunity because of all he had done in the game up to that point for you.  If he had won Immunity do you honestly feel you still had a chance to beat Pola in the finals?  And if he had not won Immunity, are you stating that you, shoe, and MB already had a deal to vote out Pola and not allow him to advance to the finals?

Matt -- Please post your answers first as the following question to MB is predicated on your answers.

MB,

1. Please comment on Ahrens answers to his questions.  If you disagree or wish to communicate other opinions or interpretations please articulate them.

2. I would like to have a little more insight into why you think your game succeeded beyond your very brief statement.  What did you do differently than someone like katz or shlog could have done if they had the fortune of your spot (landing on Mid-Major rather than BCS) – and could they just have easily done what you did in your place on the Mid-Major Tribe (while I took the heavy fire) and then onto the Final merge?

3. Why did you write your speech first?  I would have definitely waited to see what the others would have written before I did so to see what issues I needed to address as well as the quality of my speech.  Seems like both you and Shoe acted a little impulsively.

Shoe,

I will cut you some slack, as the power of the written word seems beyond your realm of competency, and give you a second chance to put together a coherent explanation of why you think you deserve votes from the jury.

I would want a pocket *****...

And psap Im horrible at speeches and all I can say is I played the game to a "T"... Played different sides followed leads and did some of my own work that's all... It's a fun game and had a lot of fun
5/29/2013 7:55 PM
Well, to address number three, now is the first time I've been able to access whatif since last night. And I started this at 7:57 EST... so that's the answer to that question. And as far as number two goes, I'm not sure. I hate to say it, but I do think that cutting ties with you initially, psap was the best move I made all game. I felt really bad about it because you had done so much for me up to that point which is why I was quick to jump back in with you when you came back. Not sure shlog or katz would have done the same, but perhaps I'm wrong. Not having the ties to the Adidas 4 post merge was what, I think, got me to where I am now. If I'd aligned with them, I'm not probably here. Honestly, I just wasn't sure what I wanted to write earlier, because, in my mind, I didn't do anything that special. Saying that probably makes my bed, but I'm not generally one to toot my own horn. So, I hope that answers your questions. Tried my best to do so. Thanks go out to horvie and ghutton for running this game very well. Had a ton of fun and didn't do too shabby for my second time out.

Shoe,

I will cut you some slack, as the power of the written word seems beyond your realm of competency, and give you a second chance to put together a coherent explanation of why you think you deserve votes from the jury.

1. Well, the fake account was created.  I was at work and wanted to get the clue to the group quickly, so I didn't divulge a bunch (or really any) intel.  Then we figured out it was a fake.  Tyson had revealed much, much more to the fake account, and I used that as my first opportunity to reach out to shoe.  i made a deal saying that pola wanted him out, and we could jump on that first and blindside Tyson.  Then I got my intel from him that people were going after sjurat, and instead of trying to flip, and knowing that after this vote the idol would be useless, we decided (and shoe knew this and voted out sjurat, if I'm not mistaken) that we would just give sjurat the idol.  I knew my intel was solid from shoe because of the deal. I think that answers both questions.

2. I made that decision.  At least to shoe.  It was the most hastily thrown together vote of any round, IMO.  MB said he was voting for sjurat (we had talked about it briefly, but hadn't solidified it), and I told shoe that we shoe get sjurat out to 'torture Tyson" or something like that.  And I just looked and from the beginning I said final 5 to shoe.  That is when we would strike.  Then we only needed one (whoever wasn't sjurat and Tyson in that group) to make a move.  Once I reached out and offered mb a final 3 deal (right when you entered the game) I knew everything about the final tribe, and the only real surprise was Tyson giving his phone to a stripper.

3. I dunno about if I could beat Tyson.  He played a great game, and I would have tried to say he would have been eliminated without me.  I dunno how much pola hate there would be in the jury, but from what I was hearing (not sure how much was pandering to get Tyson out) people would have sided with Tyson.  And yes, I reached out to shoe right before we took out tsut and mb right after you came back on the island.  Although it was never stated with shoe, it was assumed that we had a final 3 deal.  MB and I did have a final 3 deal, for sure.  But yes, even before you (and to the lesser caesari) made statements about eliminating Tyson, plans were already in the works to take him down, since I realized that I couldn't beat him.
