The latter makes sense, and I still think that was a bad deal for him.  That being said, so many people fall for the poopoo platter.  People need to understand the low cost of adequate replacement level players. 

I don't get the first part.  If he values pitchers differently, then he is still an idiot...  since the way I value pitchers is clearly the correct way.  At least most of the time.  I give people like Chuck Briese and Anton a pass because they value you things differently but have at least shown that they know how to win.
