I think too many people are counting Rubio out too early.
Told you he was running.

Senator Bernard Sanders, the independent from Vermont, plans to run for president as a Democrat, becoming the only official party challenger so far to Hillary Rodham Clinton.

According to people familiar with the senator’s plans, he will release a statement on Thursday and make a more formal announcement of candidacy later next month in Vermont. That event will likely take place at City Hall in Burlington, where he was mayor.

Mr. Sanders, who considers himself a “Democratic Socialist,” has been traveling recently in early nominating states like Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina to gauge interest in his candidacy.

While considered a long-shot for the Democratic nomination, Mr. Sanders could be another voice drawing Mrs. Clinton to the left because of his progressive views on trade, health care and corporate lobbying.

“Are we prepared to take on the enormous economic and political power of the billionaire class, or do we continue to slide into economic and political oligarchy?” Mr. Sanders said on his website.

Mr. Sanders’ plans were first reported by VPR News, Vermont’s public radio station.

According to a Federal Election Commission filing, Mr. Sanders has $4.63 million on hand for his 2018 Senate re-election campaign. That money can be transferred to his coffers for a presidential race.

Cruz tries to blame Obama for 2008 crash

It was only a matter of time before Republican presidential candidates starting blaming the president for the crash that happened on Bush/Cheney's wa

Bernie Sanders is going to get quite a bit of publicity. The media wants a story of Hillary having to compete for the Democratic nomination, and Bernie as an energetic liberal long-term congressman fills the void.

I don't think anyone has a prayer of getting the nom instead of Hillary, but it will be interesting to see if Bernie Sanders pummels her on a debate stage over her Wall Street / Big Business ties. I wonder if the liberals will put the time and money to try and pump up his appeal.

More candidates for the Repub side:

Carly Fiorina: Former Hewlett Packard CEO with a mixed record there. 2010 Republican California Senator nominee, lost by 10 points. Has some value as a surrogate attack dog on Hillary, but unlikely to make a dent. Perhaps a cabinet position in her future.

Ben Carson: Neurologist / Guy who says things he ends up apologizing for saying. I think the star has faded and if/when he ends up on a debate stage, his lack of political craft will doom him. The amount he has managed to raise is quite an accomplishment, so perhaps he can hold on for a bit.

Mike Huckabee: Former Arkansas Governor and 2nd place finisher in 2008. Very likable guy. Can use his southern and religious roots to perhaps win a state or two, like he did last time, but there may be to many people in his field (Santorum, Scott Walker) that could make that difficult.

Also pardoned a convict from Arkansas who went to Washington State and murdered four cops in a restaurant.

That too. I mentioned something similar on Page 1. He's also been critiqued for non-conservative budget decisions when he was Governor.

Isn't it more than just a bit hypocritical that many of the people from the right who (rightly) denounced Obama as being inexperienced and unqualified for the job in 2008 are now all abuzz over their own dark-skinned, non-experienced and non-qualified candidate, Dr. Ben Carson?

WE NEED TRUMP, HERMAN, MICHELE, SARAH, NEWT AND FATSO TO FILL THE CLOWN LIMO!

Comparisons of Barack Obama and Ben Carson start and end with them both being black. The Repubs seem to get a few Presidential candidates that have zero electoral experience such as Herman Cain, Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson, Steve Forbes. I can't think of anyone in the last 30 years or so from the Dem side that got to at least be in a debate, doesn't mean it didn't happen, just can't think of one.

If you want to say there's some hypocrisy, you would have a better argument to supporters of Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio. The three are all in their first term and young (for a US Senator), like Obama was. Rubio and Obama both spent about 10 years in their State's legislature. Ted Cruz had a few years as Solicitor General in Texas. Rand Paul had no electoral experience before he became a Senator.

Rachel Maddow tore into Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina on her show Monday night, pointing out the irony of the former Hewlett-Packard CEO having failed to register carlyfiorina.org.

Fiorina, who announced her candidacy on “Good Morning America,” told the show’s George Stephanopoulos that she would make a good commander-in-chief because she “understand[s] technology, which is a tool to reimagine government and re-engage citizens in the process of government.”

But as Maddow pointed out, if you mosey on over to carlyfiorina.org, you get this:

What follows are more than 30,000 sad faces -- one for each person who was laid off during Fiorina's tenure at Hewlett-Packard. But the former CEO made off just fine,

How's Hewlett-Packard doing now?

WHAT??!?!?!?!   A CEO HAD TO LET PEOPLE GO!?!??!!   OH, THE INSANITY!!!!

I guess it would have been more prudent for her to retain those 30,000 employees and risk the entire company of 350,000 go down the shitter.
