Beginning of the end.   Trump could withdraw within the week.

Cruz needed IA more than anyone. He will fall in NH cause he has not spent a lot of time there but will be a strong contender in SC after that. That was his strategy putting all his eggs in the IA basket and it worked tonight. Rubio ignored IA and did well, what a surprise. That said, is he capped as the field shrinks? Trump did not do the last debate. Maybe it cost him? Don't know, but maybe based on the timing of the swing of support to Rubio/Cruz.

disagree. It was Cruz with the evangelicals that needed this win. Cruz is sitting at 13% in NH. Cruz had the best ground game in IA, spent the most money in IA.... If he lost he was done. Like I said 1 or 2 for Trump in IA was all he needed. He's killing it in polls much of the rest of the way. Time will tell if the momentum swings from Trump - but a Cruz loss tonight was the end of his campaign. Those were big stakes.

Despite what you believe, Trump needed Iowa in order to be taken seriously nationwide.   He's been a clown and now more people are going to understand it.

I'm in a good place... I like Trump... but if he loses Cruz shares more of my values (small govt, less taxes) than Trump... and if Cruz loses pretty boy Rubio is the most electable vs both sanders and clinton. win - win - win.

Back back back back pedal
Don't get me wrong. Trump is still my guy, at least since Walker suspended his campaign, and I hope he wins. But I do like Cruz because he is most aligned with my beliefs but I think we get more gridlock in DC with Cruz since he is an all or nothing negotiator (much like obama). I like Rubio cause he has nice boots... and a good orator, love watching him speak, but like Cruz (and Obama) he's too young and inexperienced to reach across the aisle.

Trump... Great post IA speech re: his 2nd place finish. Didn't blow up. Mentioned a 28% lead in NH. Thanked Huck for a good race. Turned the message to Hillary/Sanders.

LOL
I forgot to mention both Cruz and Trump would be entertaining if for no other reason than to watch liberals squirm for 4 years.

Trump bests Ted Cruz in Iowa and now receives 34 percent support among Republican caucus-goers. Trump was at 23 percent in the Fox News Poll two weeks ago (January 4-7).

Cruz is second with 23 percent -- down a touch from 27 percent. Marco Rubio comes in third with 12 percent, down from 15 percent. No others garner double-digit support.
Haha
