West Virginia isn't exactly a microcosm of the rest of the country. I wouldn't have any confidence in a trend developing based on something people in West Virginia do.
Ah yes, West Virginians who voted for Sanders in their Democratric Primary must be sympathetic to Trump's advocacy for using nuclear weapons on Europe to clear out all those damn Muslims!
You could say that almost any state "isn't a microcosm of the rest of the country." (Though one can make the case that one of the most culturally homogenous groups in the country is Southern white people. Lol.) And, a lot of Sanders' support comes from generally white, working or middle-class people, just like the "Reagan Democrats." Whether they're in the South or not, they're a voting block with whom Trump is doing well.
I have no doubt that moy could cite statistics from all over the place showing relatively substantial portions of Sanders supporters who favor Trump as a second choice.
