He could actually be a catcher.

Here's my plan:
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Frank Nieve will get 360 innings in LF, RF and 1B to see where he does the least damage in comparison to average of the other players who'll be more suited for those positions.
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Bingo Pearson will get 360 innings in LF, CF and RF to see where he does the most good(I'm sure it's LF but just to compare RF vs Nieve).

What do you think about this guy in RF?  Is the lack of an arm a bigger problem than the Range/Glove on these C/DH types?  He hasn't been terrible in about 100 IP.
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Bill Perry

I've noticed a lot of 1st to 3rd on singles to RF and guys scoring from 2nd, but it's tough to get a feel for how costly those are.  They're usually fast runners anyway, so I'm not always sure if it's the RF's fault.  When it says "single to RCF", is that sometimes going to be the CF getting the ball and sometimes the RF, or do we know that?

I do think I agree with you about the importance of 1B and RF, though.  It seems like we play better with a 1B in RF and a corner OF at 1B, instead of the other way around.  You can really get a ton of + plays at 1B pretty easily.

He is, but sadly my batting is bad.  So if I can get a DH into the line up and bench a guy getting on base at a .260 clip, I'll try it.

I don't have a good feel about arm yet, KBM.    I know a strong arm will produce a few assists but I'm not sure a weak arm actually "hurts" the team.

In an effort to generate a little O, Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Philip Diaz has played two flawless game in RF.

I'm not a computer programmer, and it may be hard to code, but it would make sense to me to work that way.  The truth is, no one really knows exactly.  I guess more than anything I am just an old school stickler and would have a hard time playing guys out of position according to their rec's for any length of time.
Actually, I have asked this on more than one occasion to clarify, and we do know -- The sim does not work that way.
Do you remember exactly how you phrased the question and how they answered? My experience has been much is lost in translation between baseball questions and technogeek programmer answers.

May I present "Mr. Minus 20" :
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Mel Howington
He's getting minus plays and errors from his terrible arm, as well as sub-par range & glove.  The "Catchers" with poor PC that others are playing in RF are drastically below rec's for range & glove, but are near, at or above rec's for arm, so they may produce better fielding measurables.

Goes to show that Admin weren't kidding when they said arm is big for RF.

Update!

Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Frank Nieve has played 116 innings in LF and hasn't been a disaster.   Producing pretty much the same results as in RF.  However, because a defensive upgrade in LF can produce a lot more outs, the effect of "same" is much greater.    Nieve is now having some fatigue issues so, because I want the experiment as "clean" as possible, he'll see some bench time.   He won't be playing any more 1B and will only get LF/RF innings.

Thus far, after checking dozens of previous results on my teams, a "normal" RF produces about 220-250 positive plays(positive plays, putouts, assists - errors, negative plays) per season.    Nieve was on pace for 197.   I'm estimating a C will produce about 12-15% less PPPS in RF.    Attempting to extrapolate that to offensive numbers, you'd need about .2(that's point two) more RC27 from him to "break even".

In contrast, Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Bingo Pearson is only on pace to create 209.2 PPPS in RF after 230 innings.  However, as a LF, he was on pace for 358.4 while the rest of the team was producing 311.4(Nieve excluded).   Because I've known about the ability to get "extra D" from LF, my average numbers might be a bit skewed.   I'm estimating that a normal LF will produce about 290-320 PPPS.

Had a little time last night so I went back 10 seasons in MG for OF numbers.   The PPPS averages were as follows:
CF-398.8
LF-318.3
RF-231.4

The high-end CF(using 500 innings minimum) were high range, good glove players.  No real shocker there.   90 range, 80+ glove.

The high-end LF were also range/glove guys.  They were more failed CF/2B with 70+ range/glove.   I know, for a fact, that  you can get even more from high range/lower glove guys(85/65) in LF.   Arm doesn't seem to matter much in LF/CF.

The high-end RF were arm guys.   I hadn't ever thought of using C/DH-types in RF but I did use a handful of 65/35 range/glove guys.  The big difference in plays made came from the arm.   I'd been thinking RF along the lines of LF(range makes up for other shortcomings) but that is flat-out wrong in RF.  The players with the 50/50 arm just don't make the plays that the 65/65 arm players do regardless of R/G numbers.

So, in summation, I think you can use the 8/22/65/65/41 C in RF but not the low level 1B/DH 35/41/38/29 out there with limited negatives.  I'll revisit this as I get a bigger sample size.

While it's obvious that no one finds this nearly as interesting as I do, here's an update.

The experimental players:
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Bingo Pearson  Good range, average glove and arm.   A misfit for CF/RF and overqualified for LF.
Hardball Dynasty – Fantasy Baseball Sim Games - Player Profile: Frank Nieve  A catcher playing LF/RF to see where he fits.

Not really much new to see but it basically confirms what I've posted previously:

Nieve will cost you 40-50 outs in LF or RF.   Pearson with his below rec RF arm will be slightly below average despite his 84 range and his 68 glove will hurt him in CF.   However, stick him in LF and he'll produce an extra 70ish outs.  Because of this, I believe the converted C goes to RF, where he'll cost your some runs but you can "make up" for that by upgrading LF.
