"HBD was offline as scheduled this morning so we could perform some data maintenance and an upgrade. The upgrade consisted of under-the-hood changes as we jumped forward in our technology. This "jump" puts us in much better shape to make updates to the game as it was all by itself in an older development environment."
I suppose that, rather than ignore the game for however long it's been since the last significant update with ZERO communication to their HBD customer base, it would have been better to at least say something along the lines of:
"We hear your frustration about the lack of updates to HBD. Part of the problem is that the game engine currently resides on older software technology that is difficult to maintain. We have made a decision to upgrade the software infrastructure that hosts the HBD game engine to newer technology that will position us to be able to resume game updates on a regular basis, as we used to do in the past. This is not a trivial task and will require many months of planning and internal testing before actual implementation. We will provide updates on where we are with this process as we go along. Thanks for your patience and understanding."
