User Settings - Feedback Wanted Topic

HBD Owners,

This topic is a forward-thinking discussion so we can plan ahead.

Because HBD is such a deep game and owners like to approach their teams in many different ways, we have been thinking about introducing user settings that could be adjusted on one page that would impact all their franchises.

We wanted to present our initial list and gather additional suggestions.
  • Box Score Mode on desktop:  classic (current side-by-side way) or modern (where PBP and Box Score are in tabs like when we unveiled the update)
  • Player Profile default tab: specify Stats instead of Ratings, for instance
  • Franchise Profile default tab: specify Roster instead of Ratings, for instance
  • Edit Rosters on desktop:  classic (current) or modern (with tabs like on mobile)
  • Presentation mode:  home (current) or work (show grey silhouettes instead of headshots)
  • World Office on mobile:  minimized (current) or expanded (expand all by default)
  • Pitching Staff Note: show or hide
  • Pitching Staff headshots: show or hide
  • Lineup headshots: show or hide
  • Table color schemes: choose from 1 of X
As it pertains to mobile, we're also considering an idea where we specify a column priority majority of our pages so that when you view a page we drop off the least important columns to eliminate the horizontal scrolling. We would then expose an option on the page where you could elect to show more, then it'd look like it does now where you can view it all but must horizontally scroll. We would then also offer up a user setting where user could always elect to show all. This results in more compact view for all on mobile, while maintaining ability to see more info.

As an example, you would only see AB, HR, RBI, SB, AVG, OBP on Edit Lineups page on your phone all in one view without any horizontal scrolling. You could then hit a link to see all the stats with horizontal scrolling, or flip the user setting where it'd always present all the stats for you.

One last item - we are considering adding a Mentorship opt-in setting where users could volunteer to be a mentor to other newcomers to the game.  New owners would then have the ability to view a list of mentors to choose from to ask questions, etc.  We'd introduce a way to rate mentors, etc.  Related, we're considering a section for commissioners to see new owners that have recently joined HBD so they can target new owners to join their private worlds. This would be tied to a user setting, where a new owner could elect to opt out of being on this list.

We know there are many other suggestions to make the game better, but please try to limit feedback in this thread to the above topics.

Thank you!

These are all great suggestions.  Especially the mentor opt-in.

How about letting us customize our homepages on desktop to what we find important.

from world office page, make the quick links box items customizable.

On the lineups page: allow us to set the default view for each team/world.  For instance, for my team in world A I want to see "Regular Season Stats" as my default view in the lineups page.  For world B, I want to see "Regular Season Splits", and for world C (which is in spring training) I want to see "Spring Training Stats".

Same for the pitching staff page.  Let us customize the default view for each team/world.

One thing I have thought would make it much easier and MUCH more user friendly is when you have a list players (or teams) and their stats/ratings, there should be a way to freeze panes as in Excel. The top row with all the listed columns should be stuck there. Especially when you are looking at a long list of free agents and you have to constantly scroll up and down to make sure you are looking at the right column. This would help immensely. Especially on a mobile device.

The other quick suggestion, it would be nice to add a 3rd and even a 4th Criteria to be able to really reduce the list if you are looking for a particular type of player. And add to the criteria if the player is a Lefty or Righty bat or arm.

Thanks

Another change that we actually had in the past. When looking at rehiring coaches, in the past, there were boxes next to each coach that you "check" if you wanted to rehire them. At the bottom it would add up the combined salaries of the coaches you checked off. It is very useful tool when setting your budget and you wanted to see how much would be spending on rehire the coaches you wanted.

It would be nice if once they were checked off, if maybe the spreadsheet above would darken in or highlight the square of the coach you checked off to rehire. It would give you a quick overview of the what you had selected and the coaches slots you had remaining to fill. It would toggle off when you unchecked the coach.
