this kind of comes down to either Stern finds a way to keep the Hornets a viable commodity or he has to contract them
under normal circumstances the right move for a franchise at this stage would be to get the best rebuilding package (picks and youth - like with Memphis a few years back (btw QED deanod, unlike the deal that say Danny's pal Kevin got)) and start over but this situation isnt normal for a lot of reasons
it will be interesting to see what happens
Gasol has become a more valuable commodity over time, but as a centerpiece during that moment in time Jefferson blew him away. He had ~ top 3 pick value and Gasol was worth like a late 1st rounder.
They can't let him walk and he's probably not going to re-sign with anybody except for NYK, who can't even meet the 1 year rental price. Doesn't look like there's a deal to be had now, but at some point they're going to realize that nobody's offering better than Rondo or whatever the return on Rondo in a 3 way would be. The Clippers have the goods to make an offer, but they're in less of a position to go all in on 1 year and a prayer with a career of Blake Griffin vs a 1 year window of the Big 3.
Part of me feels that NO may overplay their hand and **** this up, but if their roster next year is like Okafor, Jack, and Ariza they really may as well be contracted.
