think how you'd feel if you landed the West deal

Yeah, he hasn't been great but still waffle crushes JON.  It's always nice to have a plethora of players to rotate in.

A big part of the Celtics' 2010 playoff run was having the 2nd unit firing on all cylinders with Nate/TA/BBD/Sheed.  Then Sheed retired, BBD came back to earth, and TA walked.  Seems that Pietrus may finally serve as a TA replacement, but I don't think he's quite as good.  Tony Allen for 3/10 is the best value contract in the NBA among players making < MLE.

Ibaka is a nicely priced 1.3m but he's still on his rookie contract so Im not sure that's fair to compare

Honestly D, the only reason why I will never give up on these guys is they care more than other teams.  Sounds cliche/corny, whatever adjective fits, but it's true.

Remember the squad their last Finals appearance?  Everyone was sh!tting on that team too!

all the best values are obv on rookie deals, and there's also the opportunity cost of a draft pick to acquire them.

you rarely see a proven rotation player as effective as Tony Allen going for such a low price tag in his prime.

we're only paying 5m per for Luke Walton, that's pretty sweet too

And $7M per for MWP, $4M per for Blake.  Teams are so desperate to fill their rotation holes that they give out big longterm contracts to players who are perpetually a hair away from being DNP-CD quality.  So naturally, it's pretty sweet to lock down the best perimeter defender itl who's also semi-competent on O for washed up Fish money.

Yes that makes the case for contraction/watered down factor of the league.  Hard to believe that there are so few humans taller than 5'10 on earth who can shoot better than 40% for 82 games a year, but apparently there are.

edit:  aren't there some street ballers in London we can call up?

You ready to go into sell off mode yet.

if people want to overpay for any of our pieces (or pay full price at the deadline), sure.

if teams are offering the 25th pick overall for ray allen, then **** no

Ray Allen deals I could live with:

Nocioni + Vucevic + Brackins + pick from Philly
Korver + Charlotte pick + whatever from Chicago

Ray Allen deals I couldn't live with:
Bledsoe + Foye + Cook

I could also live with Rondo for Jennings+ maybe.  But none of these would thrill me.

Since they're in the pathetic East, and are already looking at a few down years ahead, why would the Celtics flush this season instead of making one last run?  Asking fans, as I don't follow them enough to know.  Aren't the salaries and ages of their "Big 3" pretty restrictive as far as getting anything of future value back?

I'd rather go for a lottery pick and hope we hit it big than just barely make the playoffs and lose to the Heat in the first round.

And seriously.  The Pistons.  Ugh.

What about the deals that Bill Simmons proposed in his latest column?

KG to Dallas for Marion and Odom
Rondo and JON to LA for Gasol
Ray Allen to LAC for Mo Williams and a future 1st
