uh miami isn't that great, the nets would most certainly pose a tough matchup with that core, possibly even be faves

I think the notion that Howard, Johnson , Williams gives the Nets a "Big 3" that rivals Miami is insane....

I read one report that said the Howard deal would make Brooklyn an instant threat to the Heat's crown
It is all about matchups.  That team would pose incredible matchup problems for the Heat as Howard and Williams would have a field day with their respective counterparts.   The Nets also have Gerald Wallace who is about as good a defender on Lebron as anyone in the league with his good size, strength, and speed.  Wade is much quicker than Johnson and NJ has no one that can really guard Bosh on the perimeter (outside of Wallace, but then that puts Johnson on Lebron, which would be bad for NJ).  In other words, I think those two teams would be very close and it would probably come down to the role players.  I'd give Miami the slight edge next season, but I fully expect the Nets to add to their bench over the next season or two and be a real legit threat to the Heat.

the point that edso is missing is that while the nets trio has less overall talent, they have much better synergy with one another which is a huge swing.

personally i think joe johnson's prime is going to come to a screeching halt soon and wallace isn't much more than decent filler atm.  but they'll still be good because dwight has never had a #1 option like deron, and johnson/wallace are still pretty legit as #3/4 options.

Joe Johnson has synergy with nobody

probably gets them to the 2nd round, which they might consider a victory......but still a far cry from a title

first let me say - there is no reason to believe Dwight gets to brooklyn - the rumored deal is a joke that involves a pile of unsigned crap and late first round picks for the best center in the league, apparent litigable conflict of interest for Howard/Humphries agent Fegan and a lazy susan pupu platter of 3rd and 4th teams willing to take on bad contracts in order to help form yet another super team (amongst the teams rumored have been two of the biggest whining ***** small market bullshit teams in the game and they're supposed to help this situation out by adding useless salary?)

now having gotten that off my chest let me say this - Williams, Howard and Johnson very much constitute a challenge to Miami - as has been stated better fit and better synergy

The Cavs have said they'd be game- not sure about the Clips or the Magic though.

And that's only because Cleveland facilitated the deal.

the cavs have dropped out, more recently it was charlotte and now there is some discussion of minnesota

I have no idea why Cleveland dropped out, the proposed trade had them getting Kris Humphries, a 1st, 3 million, and a couple of young cheap players and essentially all they gave up was Luke Walton.  It was also rumored Humphries was only going to sign a 1 year deal.   So they would have received the best player (of those involving cleveland), a first round pick, cash, and prospects for a backup SF.

Seemed like a great deal to me.

maybe because that's all bullshit? if any of this is true and Im Kris Humphries Im in contact with a lawyer right now getting ready to sue my agent's *** off - a one year contract at age 26 coming off back-to-back double-double seasons? when his other bigger name client is trying to get to brooklyn?

how's that work? Hey Kris I know you are entering your prime playing and earning years but would you mind terribly if instead of lining up a 3 year 20 m contract with a halfway decent team we go ahead and squander one of your few opportunities to really cash in so that Dwight can get what he wants? that's so nice of you and by the way you'll be playing in cleveland - thanks again...

i agree that the package that the nets are offering is a joke.  3 late first rounders and brook lopez on a max deal, orlando would be better off just waiving dwight and moving on.

It was like a 1 year, 10 million dollar deal or something like that.  Way more money than he would average out on a long term contract.

one year guaranteed when he could 3 for twice or more? that agent will never get another client - didnt happen - Brooklyn and Fegan are lobbying and leaking

Atlanta is going to sneak in and offer Horford, some picks and the same sort of ginned up S&T nonsense to clear cap with a lot fewer moving pieces - watch

Is 3 for 20 better than 1 for 10?  I think I'd rather have 1 for 10, and then take my chances the following summer that I could do better than 2 for 10, but that is just me.

20 was just a number I threw out there - he made 8m last year so even if he didnt get much of a raise it would be more like 3 x 27m (with annual increases) guaranteed - remind me is 27 more or less than 10? and Cleveland? do you want to live there? something tells me that the ex mr kardashian likes a better class of life style
