I am about to being the NBA finals against a team. We are both the #1 seed in our respective conferences and have the exact same record. In the head-to-head, I went 2-0 against him.

Why does he have HCA over me?

The rules state in the event of a tie, the first tie breaker is head to head.

Here is an excerpt from the game rules page that explains how we do it:

"The conference champions shall meet in the League Finals for a best of 7 series, starting at the team with the better overall record and alternating locations in a 2-2-1-1-1 format."

If overall wins are equal, then we use playoff seed. Beyond that it's currently random.
