Thanks for reminding me of that! I didn't know how much inflation there was though as minutes go up, but if players are more expensive the more they play, then it seems like the most efficient strategy would be piecing together partial player seasons, particularly b/c none of these dudes have egos to hurt!
"...like the most efficient strategy would be piecing together partial player seasons"

Absolutely.

WIS posts new seasons of players whenever they can fit it in around working on the games they actually care about. It's usually within a couple weeks from the end of the NBA regular season, but not always. After the initial player release, there is also a Defensive "boost" given to the players who make All-Defensive teams, after those are announced.

Actually the last three years they have released the new players the Friday right after the regular season.

Trust me when I say we've waited months on at least one occasion, and weeks several others. That's why I say they seem to fit it in around whatever else they're working on (since we know it sure isn't the NBA SIM).

Hmm, must have been before the past three years. This seems to be the one thing they have been prompt about, at least in my experience.

They released either the 08-09 or the 09-10 players closer to the start of the following season than the season that the players were from. Since then, they have done decent. They were doing the same with the football sim, but this year, they really, really dropped the ball.

edit: it was definitely 09-10

Here's a challenge for trivia buffs:

Steph Curry broke the season 3-pt makes record yesterday on February 27th. When was the last time that an NBA season record for a major stat was set in February? ...or, what was the fewest number of games needed for a player to break an NBA single season record? (I wonder how many games Wilt needed to break the then current record for points that year he averaged 50.)
So I felt like doing some light research regarding Wilt's scoring record. It turns out, Wilt entered the league and started setting scoring records. 1961-62 Being his third season, it was his 3rd time breaking the previous record. Anyways, in 1960-61, Wilt scored 3033 points. In 1961-62, he scored 4029 points. Assuming steady pace (outside of, you know, that 100 point game), Wilt would have broken the record around game 60 (back then there were only 80 games/season). Philly's 60th game that season was played on Feb. 4, 1962.

Al Attles used to say, "did I ever tell you about the time that Wilt and I scored 117?"

There are at least 15 players I'm excited about using from the current season. There will be some small fluctuations as we close out the regular season, but for the most part, the stats are set and absolutely worth taking a look at right now.
