I just typed a big long post and deleted it when I realized I'm pretty sure where my error was, so now I can ask a fairly simple confirmation question...

When calculating the in-game limit for pitchers from a season with less than 162 GP, do you need to normalize the games pitched as well as the BFP, K, and BB?

If you don't normalized GP, Maddux '94 has an in-game limit of 174 pitches by my calculation.  If you normalize it he's good for 124.  Seems a bit more correct...

another question i have a 07 brown on a team thats about to start the playoffs his pitch allocation/ip is 14.27 in my league his use of pitch allocation/ip is 13.88 he has used 247.7 innings in the league where is season allocation is 274 when i do the math i think he is roughly 500 pitches available before his fatigue falls below 100%  which should mean that i can bump his pitch count up 30 or 40 pitches per game in the playoffs does this make sense or am i not understanding the whole pitch allocation formula

274ip * 14.27 p/ip = 3910 pitches allocated

247ip * 13.88 p/ip =  3428 pitches used

HOWEVER you can only go into the playoffs with 5% of your regular season pitches, so he goes in with the equivalent of 3,714 pitches used.

In general you can bump guys back one rotation spot for the playoffs and keep their PC the same. Or if you want more pitches, keep the rotation the same and bump the PC.

So if you had a 4-man rotation with everyone at 100 pitches, you could go 3x100 in the playoffs. Or you could add 1/3 to their pitches and go 4x133 if their IP/G is high enough to support it.

my calcs say 07 Brown has an allocation of 3523 NOT 3910

he is under his allocation by 83 pitches NOT 500

he COULD carry forward 176 pitches but since he only has 83 that's how many he WILL carry forward.

Just to clarify.... the way to find BFIP is to use WHIP, not WHIP# (normalized), correct?  That would be sensible and what was stated. Just making sure it's distinguished. Same with BB/162 and K/162.

(And it doesn't include HBP, nor team errors committed while pitching.)  ;-)
