Flyers have made offers on Parise and Suter. Imagine if we get Parise, our 1st line will be unstoppable!
Still would rather re-sign Carle, trade for Ryan, sign a guy like Moore for the 4th line center job.

Hartnell Giroux Ryan
Schenn Briere Simmonds
Read Couturier Talbot
Wellwood Moore Rinaldo

Timonen Coburn
Carle Grossmann
Mez Schenn

Or just surprise everyone and go nuts.... acquire Parise AND Ryan. I'd be down with that :)

My call is Parise in Pittsburgh, Nash in NYR, and Ryan to Philly. Atlantic will be a ***** to play in.

Suter ends up in Detroit.

The division won't be such a ***** after all. Wild sign both Parise and Suter.

Signed fedotenko and Gervais today. I'm fine with just resigning Voracek and picking up a 4c like Dom Moore.

Time to let the young guys grow.... unless Howson or Murray drop their demands for Nash or Ryan.

Wellwood, Rinaldo

Lilja, Bourdon, Gus

Hasn't Howson given you enough?

San Jose stands a good chance to get him too.

But knowing homer, he probably has something up his sleeve.
How about an offer sheet to Shea weber? Per dreger.

$100M over 14 years. Locks him up until he's 40. If the deal goes through - Nashville has 7 days to match it - it spells the end of Pronger and possibly Voracek (no money for a raise)

It's expected Nashville would get four first round draft picks.

- BUT -

Nashville has cap room to match.

Many are assuming the Flyers wanted to make a deal for Weber but offer sheeted him instead.  If they get him, great.  If Nashville matches, this makes Weber untradeable to any other team, so he won't end up on the Flyers' competition.

Doesn't exactly look good on the owners asking the players to take less money, talking about fiscal responsibility and the greater good, when the money at hand is only being used by the GMs as stakes in a poker match.

Pronger won't play again, but he can't retire either.  Because of his age if Pronger retires his salary still applies to the cap hit

Much discussion over how much exactly Long Term Injury Reserve allows Flyers to write off Pronger's numbers.

Update - looks like this contract is front loaded so Weber makes 80 million in the first six years of the deal.  That's the thing that will make Nashville think twice about matching.  Matching makes sense for them cap-wise, but may fiscally unbalance the franchise.

There's a possibility many of the ramifications of this - re: both Weber and Pronger - may be changed somewhat under any new CBA, but the Flyers look to be gambling that whatever comes out of a new CBA, they'll deal with it with Weber under contract.

Doesn't exactly look good on the owners asking the players to consider the health of the league, when one GM is using the current rules to threaten another franchise with possible extinction.

Apparently for the first 4 years, it would be $1 million salary, $13 million bonus. For years 5 and 6, It will be $6 million salary and $8 million bonus. Years 7 through ten would be $6 million salary, year 11 would be $3 million and the last three years would be $1 million.

Keep this in mind, bonus money is protected from any salary reduction and/or rollback.  So even if the players take a substantial rollback of salaries, Weber will still get his full bonus money.  Makes it even tougher for Nashville to match as they won't get much, if any, relief with the new CBA and expected salary rollbacks.  If you assume a 20% rollback, Weber would only lose $200K the first couple of years.  Brilliant play by Holmgren and great deal for Weber.

Assuming the deal is allowed to go through by the3 league.

Could easily be ruled to be circumventing the salary cap and be declared void
