I think trop kept a guy around til 41-42.   I had a start-up team in Steinbrenner that gave me a 44 year old("Worst player ever" thread).   I tried to keep him going by offering him a BL deal and putting him on the 40 but he retired.

Nah.  No one in the real world wants to talk HBD.

"What's wrong with this guy?" or "Why is he underperforming?"    It's usually just small sample size.

I was hungover on Saturday.  I never get hangovers.   Went to the gym anyway(and on Sunday).  Skipped Monday and yesterday(I almost never skip two days).  And I really don't want to go today.  Seems like some sort of crisis as I usually look forward to the gym. 

Waiting out the World Series, tidying up my roster for rollover.  I have a number of players headed for free agency, both in the majors and minors.  Is there any downside to releasing them now?

If you don't want them back and they aren't possible comp pick material, no.    As for the minor leaguers, keep in mind that you'll still have to fill out rosters.  If they're FA(6 years service), they won't be on your roster anyway.   No real need to release them as you can just not re-sign them next season.  If you keep them, you'll have first option to bring them back as filler.

How do I check an owner's history if he doesn't have any current active teams?

You can search the forums for a post or, if he's applying for one of your worlds, just ask him when, where.
