Has anyone quantified the impact of starting a catcher with a 30 PC? Would it be catastrophically bad?

I've never gone that low.   Years ago I put some data together, my teams only, that indicated that for every 10 points in PC, you'd see a .12 change in ERA.   So the difference between 50/60 would be hardly noticeable while 50/90 would be half a run.   That held true the last time I had meaningful innings split between low/high PC.    I guess, if you're accustomed to running 45 PC catchers that you'd see something like a .20 change in ERA(which you could easily convince yourself that it's a small sample size calculating somewhat random results).    However, if you've been using 70+ PC, I imagine you'd classify it as "catastrophically bad".

How do I view Catchers ERA? I saw it about a week ago. But my 90 PC C had a catchers ERA significantly more than my 54 PC C. small sample size, but id like to see the effects with the same staff.

Player stats, fielding, extended.    But, yeah, Snow doesn't really have enough innings to get a good read.   I used 20 seasons of data from my teams only.

This is the relief pitcher I was asking about yesterday. Newly signed IFA:

His splits project to 80/100, his control to 82, and both pitches to about 85. Is 26 stamina a bit of a stretchfor him? Is this guy good enough to reach 180 innings inSeattle?

Yeah, I'd lower my DUR/STM expectations first.   If you get 5-6 more in either, that's pretty good.     His 58 make-up is going to limit his potential in the other categories.   Better lower expectations for IP to 100 or so.

Will we ever see a "Summary of the summary of the Ask the MikeT23 Thread" thread?
5/14/2015 12:35 PM
That might take awhile.
5/14/2015 12:57 PM
I don't think it would take that long.

"Summary of the Ask the MikeT23 Thread:

30% Useful, but outdated, HBD information.
20% sergei asking if Mike received a sitemail from him
15% Useful, relevant, and current HBD information
10% NFL
5%  Useless nonsense from sgmedia and others
20% blah blah blah"

Isn't that pretty close to an accurate summary?
5/14/2015 2:50 PM
That's a pretty good ballpark estimate but you fail to recognize that there was Part 1-5.   They were about 500 pages each.  Useful but outdated would take a huge jump and Useful, relevant and current HBD information would drop quite a bit.    The other percentages would probably stay about the same.

Well, first, that's a **** link.   Nonetheless, based on your projections, you have a below average hitting  LF.   However, he'll walk and, if you're running team, steal bases.   If you're not an aggressive SB team, just pass.  If you are, he's not a bad fit.
5/14/2015 8:37 PM
Goddammit.  You removed the **** link.   Answer still stands.
5/14/2015 8:37 PM
I apologize for the bad link. Do you believe he is a good BL player on a playoff team? With his current ratings where they are, I figured some of his projections were low. Any thoughts?

I don't have the most money in the IFA market this year, and the guy who does doesn't want this player. Hard to pass on a BL player. Could also be trade bait in the future.
5/14/2015 9:12 PM
I wouldn't count on low projections.   He's 21.   If you run, he's a solid BL guy for you.   If your setting aren't at least "average", no, he's not for you.
