1916 Giants.  A 17-game win streak and a 26-game win streak (the latter an all-time MLB record).

What were they doing when they weren't streaking?

43-66!

Someone was messing with the Hot/Cold code in 1916...

For somebody as good at this game as he is the grizz really struggles with statistical probabilities...  He's also the godfather of the up-adjusted/down-adjusted player theory.

Grizz is great!    He even has a strategy named after him.  (The Grizzly Fatigue Strategy)

I'd need some proof beyond "this is something I noticed" if I'm going to believe WIS would do something as stupid/unethical as randomly putting players (or entire teams? not even sure what you guys are saying) on hot/cold streaks.  You guys could be right -- but boy, I'd bet a lot of money against it.  I'd also quit the site if this were ever proven.

Here's an idea.  Why don't you guys try to back this stuff up with evidence?  grizzly for example recently posted that he noticed 08 Joss doing poorly of late.  I posted the recent results of 3 of my Josses, who were all doing great.  What I'd like to see from you guys is this: Post that Player X is on a hot or cold streak due to some WIS interference.  Then ask for everyone who currently owns Player X to post his recent results.

Hey, I'll even get you started.  I have 1920 Babe Ruth in a 120M league.  During the regular season he was the MVP with numbers of .295/.428/.621, 50 home runs and 150 RBI.  In the post-season (nearly over, I'm down 0-3 in the Finals and I'm NOT playing amy, ha ha) Ruth has put up numbers of .154/.254/.250 with 1 home run and 4 RBI in 13 games.

So who else has 1920 Ruth, and how's he been doing for you since the 13th of October?  Did he start sucking badly for anyone else on or around that date???

But that happens in real life too (see my post above re: 1916 Giants).  Look, nearly every team in every league here has a winning % between .400 and .600.  When the worst teams win 4 out of 10 and the best win 6 out of 10, there are NO sure things.  So much of the results are a coin flip anyway, that it's very possible for good teams to go on losing streaks and vice versa.

And really, what's in it for WIS to screw around with the results like this?

The way I play this game, the way I use the same players over mulitiple teams.  Nothing is clearer to me than a hot/cold code.
This really just works towards proving my point...

Particularly given the fact that a lot of your favorite players aren't "full-time," meaning their seasons are even smaller sample sizes than lots of other guys have.

Again, you're not providing any proof.  All I'm saying is, to make an accusation like this, you should be prepared to give us some numbers to back up your claim.  Observations are just that: observations.  I just observed that my 1920 Babe Ruth underperformed for 14 post-season games.  Is that proof that WIS did something to him to make him go cold?  14 games is an awfully small sample size.  But if I really believed WIS messed with 1920 Ruth, I would try to confirm it by looking up how he did in other leagues over that same time period.

Sounds like it's time to run a same roster theme league again. Everyone gets the same vanilla lineup. Save for a few managerial decisions, it's 24 rosters all playing against the same competition. See how variation results there.

reminds me of my current OL team...

started season league best 46-20, have gone 25-30 since to drop out of playoff spot...no fatigue issues, nothing different, just change in result....

Streaks look streaky.

I just finished a $120M theme league.  My team was 78-70, in first place in the division, ahead by 6 games.  Then they finished 79-83, 3 games behind.  Every player on the roster was at 100% during that 1-13 streak, and I had the same lineup for all of those games.

(At least Amy's teams make the playoffs.)
