Is this the greatest D3 player ever? Topic

I think this guy could star for a top ranked D2 squad. Have no idea how i was lucky enough to get him. The new recruit generation seems to make these kind of players possible now at the D3 level. Anyone seen a better one yet?

I've got a pretty stacked team this season. Hightower is my stud PG, Gillespie my stud SF and Smith my post presence. By the end of the season I expect to have all 5 starters above the 600 level.

In the pre potential days there were some monsters in D3. I had a SF who had mid 60s ath/sp with reb and per in the mid 80s, and as 4th year junior he was my 3rd best perimeter player. I also just graduated a guy in Wooden who had 81ath/80sp/60D/60bh/83pass who averaged 27 a game his senior season while shooting 54% and won NPOY.  I currently have a 745 rated player on my Knight team don't know if he's overall better than this guy but it's certainly close.

Robert Johnston, only 663 overall but his points are distributed pretty ideally for a D3 PG/SG:

Averaging 19 ppg and 9 rpg, going to gain 60 points as a sophomore, and probably end in the 725 area.

if youre going to do it at d3 and d2 then do it at d1 too.  there aren't any elite players that redshirt anywhere in basketball.  if you can play, you play because in a year or two you're gone to the NBA.

the one sport where redshirting is completely realistic is football.

leave it alone i dont think it has any kind of negative impact on the game.

I've seen D1 2 and 3 star recruits that aren't better than these guys.  That shouldn't be right.

Rails -I'm not sure I agree with your opposition to being able to redshirt a guy like Johnston for a team like Greensboro.

1) When he was recruited he was good but not nearly the stud he is now. Lots of high potential categories made him into a future beast but he did not report looking anything like that. Isn't the point of redshirting to give high growth guys some time to grow?

2)He was recruited to a defending national champion with 4-5 returning guards ahead of him on the depth chart, all very good players in their own right and better than him at the time. Johnston would have only have gotten minor minutes that season.

3)He was recruited specifically to be redshirted, I didn't need him that season. Do we really want to take this tool away from good recruiters? If I recruit a class of future studs then I shouldn't be able to redshirt any of them even if I have depth and talent ahead of them and they might not even get minutes as a frosh?
