if it were for hit #74, it would have been ruled differently....
I didn't see the game, so I'll take your word for it.

But I'll also go out on a limb and venture a guess that somewhere over the past 15 1/2 seasons, Jeter probably had a hit or two taken away on plays that were questionably ruled as errors.  In the end, it all evens out.
