are you going to post updates on the attributes and growth every seven games as well? If so, please continue to color code for potential...
Yes, i will include team ratings(with potential included) every 7 games as well.

Did you say you were running motion? Those IQs are a good start ;)

Haha, i know right. Unfortunately one of the freshman is a C- in man, but that shouldn't effect the big picture.

you're bound to have that happen - some of the freshmen have to be decent at something...law of averages and whatnot...I don't think it really impacts the overall value of the study greatly

No change in IQs!

IQ after 7 games

So far the team has laid a goose egg, but that was expected at this point.

This post has a rating of , which is below the default threshold.
thats a pretty solid jump in ratings already for knight and davis.

Why are you using 20 points as a projected growth add-on for a blue rating?  Isn't it 21+?

I was probably being a little too conservative. Your correct it is 21+.

I have added the links to IQ progression in the opening post.

IQ after 14 games

We were able to get 2 wins so far, haha not bad. Still no change in IQs.

Robot, add me to the list of those that don't give a rodent's rear end who you are.  This is interesting. You have had 7 games thus far.  Even if you didn't count the exhibition games and had a day off somewhere to make it ten games, that would be a huge improvement in your players' skills with the extra 40 minutes divvied up.  Am a mediumly vet coach, and have noted that freshmen almost never gain a point the first exhibition game; some don't kick in any improvements until after the first OOC game.  Consider a freshman to have a pretty good development season if they are in the 40's or 50's in points gained during their Freshman year--most players seem to gain far more skill points in their Soph years, and it is disappointing to see one gain less than 60 points that season.  Point gain levels off their junior year, and slows noticeably their senior year.   Also, three of the six have marginal WE's, but still averaged almost 20 points increase.  Would be pleased if a guy with a marginal WE gained 30-odd points during the 33 point gaining days of his freshman year.  If you continue this for a few seasons, it will be a great test of IQ vs skills.  Be interesting to see how much their IQ advances strictly through PT.  Your guys will run against their point limits much more quickly--you should start to see blues turn to black and blacks to red; these guys could max out during their Soph years, and it will be interesting to see how a team of maxed-out potential with low IQ does.

Still no change in IQs. This is 21 games into the season with starts and plenty of playing time. I think it is becoming safe to say that playing time has little to no effect on IQs. The team is at 3-18 about on schedule with what i expected at this point. The team keeps improving (skills wise) even better than i expected and I think the basement for this team would be an Elite 8 and really with another good class I would normally expect (if I were practicing IQs as well) a team like this to compete for a title in a few seasons.

Soon as i get a few more minutes I wil post the new IQ update.

Expected progression:

OK, have already seen the occasional blue turn black--unless you or I are making an occasional color error.  Chris Davis' H in AT is now average; same for his ST.
Delarosa's black in ST has gone to red, even though he has only picked up one point in that category.  Knight's blue in LP is now black, even though he picked up only 3 points in LP.Powe's blue in PE is now black, even though he picked up only 4 points in PE.  And his DU has gone from black to red.Price's AT and DE have gone from blue to black.  Again, some of that might be me misrecording something, or you doing it.  I will have to look back at your team at season's start.  But it looks like what is happening is that the process of maxing out is being speeded up.  Would guess that if you were using those extra 40 minutes on offense and defense, your guys would end up at the same place, but at a more normal pace.  Obviously, with some of the highs becoming average, you will have to revise your expected progress chart.  Be very interesting to see what happens to these guys as their careers develop, and disregard the wise guys trying to guess your identity or otherwise be unhelpful.  This is a message board, and as with all message boards, some posters like to be part of the problem rather than part of the solution.  What is going to happen to your hapless Freshmen, it would seem, is to suffer through losing seasons in the interests of science.  So it goes.
10/3/2012 10:24 PM
Correct, those players have already changed in those categories. I definitely think it is being sped up by using the extra minutes all on skills. The latest chart above includes these changes in the projections. At first I was projecting 10 in all average categories, with the chart above i am only projecting 7 for those still in black, 20 for blue and 0 for red. So really, these are their minimums for improvement! I think if i were practicing IQs and preparing to compete for a title the ones i would really be watching are knight's PER, delarosa's REB, and powe's REB. The longer those stay blue the higher the odds we could win it. Knight's PER because i need a legitimate go-to perimeter threat, delarosa's REB because he becomes much more versatile and i can stick him in as a lighting fast PF if i need to (which will make him a better scorer) and powe's REB because that will help fortify my frontline. But at this point they are already more than i expected so i'm very happy with them.

Also, thanks for the kind words. I got a little ticked off, but realized that most find this interesting so i will be keeping at it.

10/4/2012 10:49 AM
Thanks for doing this, very interesting

I image that when the current freshman hit junior year and have mostly if not completely maxed out, there will be a strong temptation to pump a bunch of minutes into IQ.
10/4/2012 3:18 PM
so there was an assumption being made that by simply playing, or playing against, and not spending a single practice minute on a certain set, that the IQ's would be improving?

The players should move from F to D- sometime during there soph seasons (maybe second half?) but you will also notice they also will improve in sets that you've never played or even played against.
