I tried to draft Hornsby at Catcher and can't get it to work.  I need some help too.

This is the way I force players into positions they are not rated for. For example I will use the case of 2004 Ivan Rodriguez at shortstop.

Step 1- Choose 2004 Ivan Rodriguez  as a utility player in the lower part of the hitters section in the draft center.

Step 2 - After you enter him, before you do anything else go to the URL line and highlight his player ID # (2203727) and "copy" it.

Step 3 - Delete the 2004 Ivan Rodriguez from your roster. Your browser will still have the ID stored.

Step 4 - Go to the SS position and enter anybody.

Step 5 - In the URL field, eliminate that players ID # but leave everything else

Step 6 - "paste" the 2004 Ivan Rodriguez ID at the end of the line.

Step 7 - Press enter. The 2004 Ivan Rodriguez should now be in the SS field.

If you copy the link from the + sign next to a player, you'll get something that looks like: SelectPlayer(17,2176052,"Raines","Tim",1983,0,0,-1). Change the first number (17, in the example) to whatever position you want them to go to (1 for catcher, 2 for first base, and so on), and paste it into your address bar. Make sure that you put javascript: in front of it if it doesn't copy that part too. Final result should look like this: javascript:SelectPlayer(1,2176052,"Raines","Tim",1983,0,0,-1)

Here is how I did it.

1. Pick the player you want in a util position
2. When looking at your roster page, right click on the link and copy the address bar,  it will look something like this

http://whatifsports.com/mlb-l/themewiz_buildteam.asp?action=add&spot=9&playerid=2194466

the 2194466 is the unique player id (1894 hugh duffy) and the "add&spot=9" is the position on the roster of the player (the first utility spot.  C will be 1, 1b will be 2, 2b 3 and so on)

3.  delete player from your roster
4.  Paste the link,  that you had already cut in step 2,  into your toolbar
5.  Where is says "add&spot=9" change 9 to what position on the roster you want him to occupy.  (1=C, 2=1b, 3=2b, 4=3b, 5=ss. 6,7,8=of....)
6.  Type enter
7.  Player should now be there. Rinse and repeat.

It took me quite some time, but I FINALLY figured it out & man is it TOUCHY & SENSITIVE process!  It is almost like the appeal plays in the field, between the replacement player selection & replacing HIM, you can do NOTHING in between, if you do something in between, the whole process is SCREWED & you have to start again!  I feel like & just gave Birth - to IRod!  Alls we need now is a League Number!

Because one guy went to work at 2:30 am and ended up working 14 hours on Saturday. I left my I Phone at home on accident. Sometimes real life takes priority over a silly sport simulation.

That said I will pick

Curt Schilling

Real life taking priority, that's rich!

Anyway, i'm taking Eddie Plank, the man who beat me in the world series when I had Ty Cobb.

Aw, it is nice to see that the Two Man Band still has life.

Sorry I missed it this time around, I've been traveling.  But please let me know if you go to another season so that I can play.

P.S. to the guys who have drafted Foxx and Bonds and ESPECIALLY if some poor soul drafted Ted Williams -- you are about to be more shocked than Karl Rove.  I do not think I have ever laughed so hard as I did when trying to calculate Teddy Ballgame's fielding issues.

How many errors did shortstop Teddy have? I remember it being a rather large number.
11/10/2012 8:40 PM
As I remember, Williams' owner tried several different Teds at 2B and SS to see if any of them would field better than another.  I want to say his fielding percentages were down below .800 and that at least one Ted had 100 errors at 2B.
