The Red Sox never learn. They just shed salary for Gonzo, Crawford and Beckett...now they sign Napoli, are rumoured to be one of the frontrunners for Hamilton, and have interest in Dickey (which would presumeably come with an extension). Makes zero sense what they're doing.

meh, I'm indeifferent towards it.  He might be a nice (better than average) filler.  They have to sign someone to play.  They are still going to have a huge payroll.  Just, hopefully not for 7 years at a time like before.

oh, they learned.  they shed bigger, longer term contracts, and signed napoli and victorino so that they'd have solid, decent bats in the lineup, leaving cash for the pitching.  just a few years too late.

That Victorino contract is bad. Same money as Pagan for a guy who can't hit RH pitching at all.
