Can we ever get the conferences/teams properly aligned.  Nevada, Fresno St to Mountain West for example, It's 2012 anything is possible in the comp, programming world. 

 Try it...it's nearly impossible to arrange the conferences, 12 teams each, and not have a ridiculous result or two.  A few years ago, I attempted it and failed miserably.  And what would you do with Boise St?. Properly align them in the Big East?

Al, I do agree with you that it would be extremely difficult to realign conferences with the current set-up, but it's important to note Boise State will not be joining the Big East in basketball.  They'll be moving to the Big West in 2013. They're a football-only member of the Big East.

When do you stop? Those conference are changing all the time

TCU has been in  3 conferences (C-USA, Big East, Big 12) in  a little over a year.  Just a few years earlier, they also left the WAC.

The Southern Conference (DII) currently has 13 members but a total of 30 different schools have held membership in the past

The Freedom Conference (DIII) started in 1999 with 8 teams. Only 4 of the original teams are left.

Meanwhile:
2007- DeSales, Drew, Lycoming and Scranton left for other conferences (4 different ones)
2007- Arcadia joined but only lasted one year
2007- Manhattanville joined
2008- Alvernia joined but for only one year
2008- Eastern and Misercordia joined

THe Pennsylvania Conference has had so many different members that they changed the name to Colonial States Conference

Not to mention the general issue that coaches more often than not would probably prefer that their programs not change conferences.  If you get moved into a Big 6 conference, that's awesome.  If you get moved out, or even out of the top conference in your world, you're ticked.  But even if you get moved into the top conference but liked the guys you used to coach with and had developed coaching relationships with them over time, maybe even that move isn't so awesome.  Get moved from a full conference to an empty and maybe you quit the game.  Just not good business.  If you wanted to start a new world with different conference alignments that would be one thing, but in an existing world you just stand to step on far too many toes.

i agree with what most of you said but a lot of teams in the division II peach belt are actually in Division I

There's no point in doing this, all it does is potentially upset the balance of the game, there's no "reward" to this.

TCU was in the Mountain West, not C-USA.

If they ever start new worlds (which would involve attracting more people, which would involve advertising, which would involve spending money, which Fox is unlikely to ever do), it would be cool to at least update them to reflect as many of the current conference changes as possible. Not only would it make the game seem a bit less dated, it would probably attract more players, both current and new.  Not sure if WIS would consider this to be worth the effort, though...

Actually we are both correct.  The history is:

1923-1995  Southwest Conference
1996-2000  WAC
2001-2004  Conference USA
2005-2011  Mountain West
Nov. 2010-   announced a move to the Big East
Oct. 2011-   announced a move to the Big 12

What would you do with Centenary, which dropped from D1 to DIII? Or St. Paul's, which dropped athletics.  Another is Fisk, which dropped athletics in 2008, then revived them in 2010. Another is Winston-Salem, which went from DII to DI to DII between 2007 and 2011.

Having current conference assignments is a great idea, but nearly impossible to acheive.

Morris Brown is a D1 school in HD, and to be honest, I'm not even sure they play basketball there...

WIS' 12-team conference alignment solidifies/compacts an otherwise shaky RL college basketball landscape...I enjoy when games perfect what real life cannot, and this is one of those instances.

Also you've got to consider the Big East is about to blow up into something or nothing... which will be a domino top to bottom...BCS to mid major
