Recruiting at top DII Topic

What is the highest rank recruit you can get if you are an A prestige DII school?  I am talking about recruits under 100 miles away.

it varies quite a bit from season-to-season and world-to-world.
One season you may be able to recruit a #150 SF, the next season you may not be able to get the #200 SF.

You could do a search at the beginning of recruiting of D1 recruits by position.
This certainly is a rough estimate, but you may see about 60 of those guys drop, or open to recruiting by a D2 team at your level.  That 60 is probably on the low end.  You may find 80-100 that are available some seasons.

So if you see 250 PGs listed on your D1 search, your top end may be in the #190 range.  that's the 250 total minus the 60 that may drop.  If it's 80-100 that will drop, your cap is closer to the #150-#170 PG.

But you really may want to contact  several guys initially to find your cap.  Call the #200, #190, #180 guys and see if all or any of them are giving you the backup message.

One suggestion (especially with the new recruit rankings shown on recruit profile pages) is to look at the top teams in your world (Naismiths I assume) and see who they have been able to grab.  In Iba, it's common to see guys in 150s (maybe 140s?) get picked up by D2 schools.

I've seen local guys as low as 150 give me the backup option.     This season I have a non-local 162 that gave me the backup option and I had a local 196 let me recruit him without pulling him down.

I can usually get guys in the 180's.

This season I have guys as low 163 (HS) and 114 (3 year JUCO) drop to me.

This seems unusually high for me though.

I am about to sign the #98 SG for my DII Tark team.   I have an A+ and he is like 30 miles away.

I think that is kinda screwy.

The guy really isn't good, maybe the SIM knows that.

30 miles could be the factor here. mniven just signed the #146 PG with B- prestige, which I didn't think was possible. I didn't even bother calling players in the 140 range with my B prestige team.

I was going to say, I have had guys in that range give me a backup message if they are close before.  But usually it ends up that I woudl have to battle a d1 to get them, so I don't go there and see how much it woudl take.'

I remember the brief 8-12 month period top D2 schools were routinely getting guys in the 120s and the occasional double digit recruit. I remember once getting on the list of the #88 SF before two D1 schools knocked me off.

How recent was this? I think the highest I ever landed was #137 at A+, coming off a NC season.

I was still at Bryant which I haven't been in 25 seasons in Phelan which is a bit over 2 years, and it stopped before I left but not much before I left. So let's say it ended about 2 1/4 years ago started at most 3 years ago. My time frame may be off a bit.

Impressive stuff. Can't remember the last time I saw a D2 team sign a player ranked in the double digits.

It would be more impressive if he was good....

Can't see his potential and don't want to waste carryover cash to scout CA but he looks good based on starting ratings.
