It's not the amount.  It's the quality.

No argument here. I just wondered what people thought about the number of players, rather than what the biggest problem was.

Any Hall of Fame without Bonds and Clemens is too small.

Should I list the guys that have no business being in the HOF?   It's more than 2 thus making the HOF too big.  Like Bonds' head.

I'm sure there are plenty that don't belong...Rice, Dawson, Catfish Hunter, and Tony Perez are four modern day players that probably shouldn't be in. But there were ten players on the ballot THIS YEAR that do belong. And Morris wasn't one of them.

10?   No ****?  List them.

Biggio
Bagwell
Bonds
Clemens
Raines
Trammell

Martinez
McGwire
Walker

Half of them have no business being in the HOF.

List the guys from that ten that you don't think should be in.

Bagwell

I'd listen to arguments on
Raines

You don't think Bagwell is a Hall of Famer? Using Jaffe's JAWS score, Bagwell comes in at #6 all time among first basemen. Take out the two guys who played in the 1800's and he's at #4, trailing only Gehrig, Foxx, and Pujols. I don't think there's a logical, non-steroid based argument to keep him out.

Unless you're not a fan of JAWS.

The fact that Bagwell played 1B hurts him.  Lots of good 1B during that era.  And the beauty of the HOF is, you can have it be as exclusive as you want, there are no rules.  Maybe one of your criteria is "Should have been an obviously dominant player during his era." You can argue Bagwell was not.

That said, yes, he gets an obvious vote from me.

Agree on Rice, Dawson and Perez.

Hunter's a HOFer.

Nome of them should be in.

Bonds and Clemens get excluded because their PED use muddies the water . . . you can't distinguish their legit stats from their PED fuelded stats. So they lose out.

Reinstate Pete Rose and put him in, then I'll consider listening to arguments about Bonds and Clemens.
