i have just noticed that my late half & late game settings for offense & defense do not take precedence over my basic settings even tho they are checked....what am i missing?

If the conditions for your Winning By or Losing By game plans are satisfied, those will be ones used.  The precedence for game plans goes from most the restrictive, first by score, then by time left.

So, if you have a Losing By game plan that becomes active if you're losing by 7 or more with 5 minutes or less remaining, and an Optional gameplan that becomes active if you're losing by 1 or more with 2 minutes or less remaining and you're losing by 10 with 1:45 left, the Losing By plan will be the one in use.  If you're losing by 6 with 1:45 left, your Optional game plan will be active.  Similarly for when you're winning.

     Winning By 9 w/ 8 to go - change to X
     Losing by 4 w/ 8 to go - change to Y
     Option 1 - winning by 1 w/ 4 to go change to Y
     Option 2 - losing by 1 w/ 4 to go change to Y

at 4 minutes to go i was up 21-3 & ran the winning by (offense X) the rest of the way

That's what should have happened since you were winning by more than 9 and there were less than 8 minutes remaining.

This is very confusing.....

Your losing by 4 with 8 to go, and winning by 1 with 4 to go, and losing by 1 with 4 to go are all the same offense???

its a "pass" dominated setting to either get ahead late (losing) or try to run a 2 minute type hurry up at end of half or game regardless of what the score is (options)
the "winning" is more run dominated setting to kill clock & hopefully not turn it over w/ an unnecessary INT
