Additionally, I'm picking in the top 3 as well, so I won't lose that pick and if I just signed one type A draft pick I'd lose my 2nd rounder, but do I then lose an additional round pick for each type A free agent I sign?

Yes. If you're picking in the top 3 you would then loose your 2nd rounder, your 3rd rounder and your 4th rounder if you were to sign 3 Type A FAs.
