Earl Weaver Tribute League 1930-2013 RIP Topic

Growing up a Yankee fan I saw a ton of Earl Weaver managed games over the years.  I always admired his passion for the game and the fact that his showmanship rivaled Billy Martin when getting ejected from a game.  This HOF manager should be remembered here on WIS.

A few good Earl Weaver quotes...

"The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals, and three run homers."

"A manager's job is simple. For one hundred sixty-two games you try not to screw up all that smart stuff your organization did last December."

When outfielder Pat Kelly shared with Earl, "It's great to walk with the Lord.", Weaver replied, "I'd rather have you walk with the bases loaded."

"Don't worry, the fans don't start booing until July."

"If you know how to cheat, start now."

"I think there should be bad blood between all clubs."

"The guy who says, 'I love the challenge of managing,' is one step from being out of a job. I don't welcome any challenge. I'd rather have nine guys named Robinson."

"On my tombstone just write, 'The sorest loser that ever lived.'"
