WAIVER WIRE XXV-NHL28935

Welcome to the most fun you can have in a league at WIS, the Waiver Wire League. This is the 25th installment and looks to be one of the more challenging versions!

Start by drafting your team consisting of $165,000 players with the exception of one wild card player, any position. (More on the wild card player below). Begin by claiming players off the waiver wire at one per calendar day, once the schedule is generated, costing OVER $2 million with a d rating of at or equal to 70. Two days before the transaction deadline is the multiple claiming day whereas you may claim as many (or as few) players as you'd like, within the rules of course. No players may be on your roster, or in the minors, with a salary less than $2 million after the transaction deadline. If you carry one of these players, you will forefit all remaining games and a playoff spot (if earned).
Your wild card player may carry any salary ($3 million max if he's a goalie), but must have a d rating of 70 or below. If your wild card choice has a salary of less than $2 million, he must be waived by the transaction deadline (so it is advisable to choose a player with a salary over $2 million who you think would be difficult to find on the waiver wire).
THE SPECIFICS

  • $75 MILLION CAP
  • RELAXED ROSTERS
  • NO CLONES
  • D RATING ON ALL PLAYERS EQUAL TO OR LESS THAN 70
  • MAX SALARY ON GOALIES IS $3 MILLION
  • NO ML'ERS, NEVER PI, TRADES OK-6 TO VETO
  • MINIMUM SALARY OF PLAYERS AFTER THE TRANSACTION DEADLINE IS $2 MILLION
  • ONE WAIVER WIRE CLAIM PER CALENDAR DAY (If more than one claim is made, both players claimed must be waived and no further claims may be made until the next day).

Simple yet challenging. Do you draft the high ticket Lemieux or Gretzky, thus reducing the average salary of your remaining player claims to just over $3 million? Or do you try to go for balance knowing that the max d rating on all players is 70? $3 million or less on goalies gives you the opportunity to use a decent, but not spectacular player, so there should be some scoring as well! Hope to see you all there!
