Silent Auction Draft v2 - Category Selection Topic

Sorry. I'm working on building the draft threads now. I've been swamped at school and work and dealing with a sinus infection. It's been a miserable week.

There are 26 categories (including ballpark).  There also happens to be 26 letters in the alphabet., so I have created a template, which maps each letter to a category.  When you send me your bid amounts, simply include the letter and the bid amount.  Here is the letter-to-category mapping template...

I haven't quite finished figuring out my bids.  Do not submit bids yet.  But when you do , this is an example of what your site-mail should look like.  Use the word BID in the subject line.

A 5
B 35
C 1
D 47
E 155
F 82
G 27
etc..

Make sure the total adds up to 1000.

I anticipate to be ready to accept bids by tomorrow.  I will send out a site-mail.

I may have missed it, but how will tie bids be handled?

I used a random sequence generator in season 1. I assume schwarze would do the same.
2/12/2013 10:42 AM
Correct, it will be random.

I have my bids finalized.  You can start sending me your bids.  The first three people who send me their bids, will get to see my bids (prior to me opening your site-mail).

Please use the word BID in the subject line.

Not bad... just 24 hours after I started accepting bids, we're already over half way there.  Keep 'em coming...

mine are in... and I am far from satisfied... I made so many adjustments over the last two days... Let's hope I didn't adjust myself out of a coherent strategy.

i feel less than satisfied, too.  With 24 teams, I think it is going to be a little trickier than with 16.  Not feeling so good about this time around.

I have a coherent strategy...I'm just hoping it works.

DCSquires says he'll get his bids in late Friday.  I am a bit worried about tdoak and dweezil.  They have not opened up any of my site-mails all week.

I don't feel good at all about my picks. I made the bids I wanted for each category and realized I had 80 credits leftover. So I have no idea what to expect.
2/14/2013 1:44 PM
I feel worse.  I made the bids I wanted for each category and had 400+ CREDITS LEFT OVER!!!   Seriously!!!

Here is what I am going to do for tie-breakers

I have created the following random number grid.  Each column contains the numbers 1 thru 24.  There are 26 columns, but the columns are not marked yet.  I am going to re-order the columns in the grid.  I will then ask one person to site-mail me a list of the letters A thru Z, mixed up in random order. I will not open the site-mail... Once I see that site-mail in my in-box, I will then site-mail that person the revised grid - so it's on the record.  Once he receives that grid, he can check to confirm that I have not yet opened the site-mail he sent me.  Once he confirms that, then I will open it up and assign his letters to my grid, which then then be used to break ties.

There are a few high-bid-amount ties that I don't want the respoinsibility of breaking without some kind of audit control.

This is that grid that I will be mixing up...

How to read the grid:

If column 1 happened to correspond with Category A, and schwarze and dhomard had the same bid amount for category A, then dhomard wins the tie-breaker since 10 is lower than 15.
