The available team is actually pretty good. The Former
Detroit Franchise (plays in the AL North) has never had an owner stay for more than 6 seasons and could certainly use someone to come put their stamp on it. But, regardless, the team won 85 games last seasons and has a solid, flexible ML roster. Things get more exciting in the minors -- 6 straight sub-.500 seasons has set the franchise up with a bunch of high draft picks that will soon be ready to make an impact at the ML level. Last year's #15 pick is a future top-end SP who is still only 19 (
Terrence Taylor). The season before that, they took a SS with the 10th pick (
Bret Martin). The year before that, a very promising 3B (now 21 years old) at #7 (
Brian Knowles). That last guy could even be Beyonce's cousin! YOU MIGHT GET TO MEET JAY-Z!. The seasons before that they took an SP who is now 22 and ready to be an impact ML starter (
Evan Fordham, whose splits are 80/79).
