DIV II Ranking Topic

I really do not understand the ranking in this sim.  I have played for 12 seasons and either gone unranked or in the bottom half of the Top 25.  I have built a fairly solid team and thus far am undefeated in exhibition (3-0) and regular season (6-0) games.  I have the top rated team in the the CIAA, and have 5 players in the top ten.

I won decisively last night and yet dropped in the rankings.  How does that happen?

WIS from #7 to #14
Press from #8 to #15
Coach from #5 to #13

Something just does not seem right about this...

Hi:

First, exhibition records don't mean anything. Although you are having a nice 6-0 start, there are lots of teams that are 6-0, as its still early in the season. Your last win vs. Fayetteville St. hurt your rankings because they are so bad and your Strength of Schedule took a hit.

It's not just how many you win, it's who you play. Good luck!

Here is your non-conference schedule- talk about cupcakes! You need to schedule some human opponents that are ranked around 20-50. Do that and if you go undefeated after OOC games you will be ranked in the top 10.

Actually this is exactly the type of teams to play for OOC games if you have a top 10 team and want to maintain a good ranking.

Thanks for all the great advice...

Actually mojolad looks to have a pretty impressive overall record.  Season is still young enough, game tonight is an important one!

FYI, the rankings don't mean squat. As long as you make the playoffs (not too hard in DII), you control your own fate. Keep scheduling the cupcakes until you're hitting ~15 wins per season, then slowly build up your SOS. That'll get your vision up so you can see better recruits.

Something is still wrong, in my opinion...

Now 11-0 and still dropping in therankings... Won last game 65-13, SOS is higher than all but one team in the conference and I still dropped in the all three ranings.  Of the top 13 spots in WIS (I'm 13th) there are 6 @ 11-0, 5 @ 10-1, and 2 @ 9-2.  Just doesn't seem right.

Maybe we'll see each other in the playoffs...unless the system drops me from contention.

Your overall SOS is 134 out of 144, you're lucky you're still in the top 20 (your ranking is a combination of your record and your SOS - the lower the SOS the better).

BTW, the only ranking that means anything is your WIS ranking, the Coaches and Press rankings are just for show and mean nothing.
