Enough usage%, but not enough possessions? Topic

I've played a few basketball seasons with mixed success, but I never paid much attention to possession penalties and usage rates. I'm trying to be more mindful off such things now, though. I built a team that will always have at least 12+ usage points, but looking at my team stats, it doesn't look like my team will score enough. I'm debating just running the slow down offense and work on being efficient, but I'm wondering, 1: if I even need to run slow down and 2: should I sub out a player(s) who shoot more to improve my total scoring. Here's my current roster. It's a practice league now, but once I settle on a roster I like I planned on putting it in an OL:

You have enough possessions.... you don't need to run slowdown because of this.  You might need to run slowdown because of the fact that your team is hurting severely in the rebounds department and has *way way way way WAY* too many minutes for an OL.  Bruce Bowen is not a SF in this sim.... you need WAY more boards out of your SF position.  Try subbing in 92-93 Rodman for Bowen and your team will perform much better.  Drop about 1,500-2,000 total minutes, get some better quality players with the money saved, and you should be competitive.

Thank you for the advice. I didn't even think about lowering minutes, but I guess with the rookies that come with an OL team, I can get away with trimming off 400-500 minutes.

If you draft 9 quality players that total 17,000 minutes and 3 scrubs, ull have enough minutes.

Okay, I swapped Bruce Bowen for 1980-81 Sidney Moncrief. I traded out 93-94 Hakeem for 92-93 (120 more rebounds). I ended up cutting out about 1000 minutes off of my roster. I had to switch out some bench players but added about 300 more total rebounds and 200 more points.

By the way, total rebounds, points, etc aren't used.  The advanced stats (such as usg%, ast%, OReb%, etc) are what the sim engine uses.
