one more question. I read the posts and didnt see mention of this. Do you have to pick the season of the captain when he was captain? For example, Stan Mikita did a stint as captain in the 70s. Could I take one of his 60s seasons?

Wow!  Good question.  I think that as Stan never captained another team, as long as it was a season with the same team, it will be OK.  He can still not have any Hawks on his team though.

Ok...I am not taking Stan. I will take Bruins Captain for 13 years...Dit Clapper ( I like to be different). He played only for Boston and his best year (as a forward) he was not captain.His best year on D he was. So, I can take either one?

DIt Clapper it is - whichever year you wish.  And welcome - should have a league # up within a couple of days.
