Haven't played since circa 2008.

Vets - what are the biggest differences to consider?

How has fatigue changed from the old days of drafting only around 1200 quality IP and filling in the rest with junk and AAA?

Position player fatigue? 

etc?

Thanks in advance for any help.  Obviously will have to do some trial and error but don't want to waste too much money figuring that out if possible.

There's probably been 2 major updates since you left. So some of the "gaming" done back in 2008 no longer gives you an advantage. The game is probably less predictable than at any time since I started playing. You can no longer put the same team in every league and win.... but that's boring anyway.

You can still put together a pitching staff with 1200 innings... but it requires a little more management than it used to. Fielding range was the rage a while back now the high range players are a bit overpriced.

Cookies have changed... speed teams do very well... deadball pitchers are kings. There is a nice tool to see who the most used players are... go to your team center and scroll down to bottom RHS... find statistical snapshots and scroll down to find list of players. there's your cookie list. This at least gives you an idea what players have the best value.

Progressive leagues have become very popular. Many of the veteran players have migrated here since they have reduced the prizes for HOF's in open leagues.

League payouts for open leagues have started declining after 5 WS titles since I joined the site, which was way before 2008...  That is not new.
