I am at a really bad D1 school and even though there are recruits in my backyard who have no offers at all but they won't consider me - I have a lot of cash to throw at one guy but I can't get anyone worth anything to consider me.

Is there a way to pull these guys like D2 - 10-20 scouting trips?

I see other schools with similar prestige / distance getting some of these guys interested how are they doing it?

I am not going after a monster recruit the guy is a 570 range guy no stars 40-50th in his position 
I'm a D prestige but since he has no offers you would think he would consider me ?  

Have you called to make sure he's a direct recruit or a pull-down?  Has he accepted any recruiting effort other than scouting trips?

Call his coach, pulldowns work the same way in D1 as D2 or D3. Try to pull him down if the coach gives you the backup message.

I have the back up message he just wont consider me 

What does the AD say in the ST e-mail?  Usually as the recruit gets closer and closer to getting pulled down as you send more STs, the tone of the e-mail becomes more positive.

I left the usual Ohio St. materials with his head coach and he was very appreciative. Looks like if we play our cards right, we'll have another signee soon.

So yes, scouting trips and a lot of 'em apparently.
