Personally, I wouldn't mess around with this guy and risk the injury. I see a player who is already a borderline ML prospect. That alone is no big deal. But he is also a catcher/DH with a low overall rating, a perfect candidate for a ditr bump. If I've got him on my team, I'm treating him like a legit prospect, keeping him on the active roster, crossing my fingers and hoping like hell he gets a ditr bump. If he gains an extra 10 in each category, all of a sudden he's a starter and middle of the order bat vs. righties who can still hold his own a little when a lhp enters the game. His def. ratings would also get bumped up enough where he could be an emergency back up to your starting catcher who is an absolute beast and most likely can play every game. That would open another spot on your 25 man roster. So maybe there is only a 5 percent chance he gets the bump or whatever it is but in my mind, that is more valuable than testing a theory which can be tested on someone else. Just my thoughts, and maybe I'm overestimating his value even if he gets a bump. What say ye, HBD community?
