The Talkin' Baseball progressive league is heading into its 33rd season! The league was founded in 1950, and we are looking for one owner to join us starting in the 1982 season. Openings in this league have been rather rare recently. These rare openings also have filled extremely quick in the past, so act fast if you are interested!
Important: We only want owners who are looking to stay with us for the long term. To be more precise, we are requesting at minimum a 6 (six) season commitment from you. We'll call it a gentlemen's agreement. Progressive league vets and non-experienced owners looking to join/learn a progressive league are both welcome in this league. If you aren't willing or interested in playing with us for at least 6 seasons, we do thank you for looking here but you aren't what we are looking for.
We are currently 114 games into the season as of 2/19 pm2. Sitemail is going out to the owners for lotto numbers on the evening of 2/21. We will start drafting off the clock later in the week. 1982 Keeper Lists are due to be posted by no later than 2/28. The roster listed at the bottom of this thread is before any cuts that the new owner may want to make. Get in now to participate in the draft and update the keeper list the way that you want it to be.
The available team was run by the same owner for the past 15 seasons, and has had only 2 owners during the 32 season league existence. The team calls the Astrodome home (and the team must stay there unless you can find an owner in the league willing to switch stadiums with you). The team has had a run of bad luck (which includes being in the very tough NL West) but they have a great base to work with that can be immediately competitive. In 1982 they have no less than three 30+ homer bats with Jason Thompson, Bob Horner and Dave Winfield, and another 24 from Jim Rice! And Dickie Thon's career year will soon be here. You'll have ace Fernando Valenzuela and John Candelaria, plus future quality innings from Bob Walk and Bob Ojeda! And on top of this, you'll be adding a projected top 6 pick in an excellent 1982 draft! There's a whole lot to like and I cannot believe this team will remain available for long. You decide if you want to make a run of it in the short term or sell off the vets to make a run later in the decade. The roster for the available team is at the bottom of this thread.
