Caught between 2 possible teams. Any advice? Topic

Hi all I'm debating on putting a team in a league but I'm kinda unsure if I can improve it. Here's what I got now.
Name Team Pos GP* Min Pts FG% 3Pt% FT% OReb Reb Ast TO Stl Blk PF
Wilt Chamberlain 62-63 Warriors C 82 47.6 44.8 52.8 0.0 59.3 7.9 24.3 3.4 4.9 1.7 4.6 1.7
Walt Frazier 69-70 Knicks PG 77 39.5 21.6 51.8 33.1 74.8 1.7 6.0 8.2 3.6 1.8 0.4 2.6
Walt Bellamy 72-73 Hawks C 74 37.9 16.1 50.5 0.0 53.8 4.5 13.0 2.4 2.9 1.1 2.7 3.3
Paul Pressey 84-85 Bucks SG 80 36.0 16.1 51.7 35.0 75.8 1.9 5.4 6.8 3.1 1.6 0.7 3.2
Don Buse 76-77 Pacers PG 81 36.4 8.0 41.6 0.0 78.6 0.8 3.3 8.5 2.9 3.5 0.2 1.6

Now I'm not sure if i should replace wilt with 66-67 wilt (24.2 ppg 24.2 rpg 68 fg%) and replace pressy with george gervin (29.6 ppg, 54 fg%).
If i do that, i gain more efg% but my defense goes down (prissy is 90, gervin is 71) and i lose a lot of dreb% and ast% with gervin as well as a 15% dip in ft% with 67 wilt. But my scoring would be more balanced. I like both teams but I'm not sure which one will translate to wins. Any advice? Thanks

I use to run that Don Buse a lot.... actually every team I had from last year. I hated it.

given the choice always use 67 Wilt
FT% is virtually meaningless in the sim

assuming this is a theme else you have all sorts of other issues

this is just an ordinary league. its not a theme league. should i still use 67 wilt?

the 67 Wilt is debatably the best single season of any player in the sim in terms of value

but no one else on your roster would be drafted in an 'ordinary league'

and that Wilt season is super tough to build around at the default 'ordinary league' cap

I haven't been around much lately corvino, but this team isn't going anywhere and let me tell you why...

I see you have a love of the older NBA, BUT (and I am going to save you a ton of money here) do not get wrapped up in the names of the players.  My favorite player was a god on the court (Olajuwon), but he sucks in the sim.  If you look at the players as random names with stats assigned to them you will be better served.

So pay attention to...

1.  Usage.  Their is a huge thread on it.  Read it.
2.  Just as in the modern NBA, threes matter, and just because you do not have many doesn't mean someone has to shoot them.  It just means you will live and die on the perimeter...ask Denver how that worked out for them this season.
3.  Defense is overvalued.  A team full of 100 rated defenders will not net you a reasonable amount of wins compared to proper usage, three point shooting, strong eFG%, and dominating rebounds.  Getting D along with that is nice, but be careful that you do not completely suck on D (any of these leagues WILL totally expose you, ALL of these leagues are offensively slanted because the sim is offensively slanted).

@corvino: I have won multiple championships with '67 Wilt in open leagues.

To further clarify, I too would use the 67 Wilt if given the choice...however I think the problems with the team are far more glaring than using the wrong Wilt.
